It's Friday, which means it's time to join Friday Smiles which is hosted by Annie (at A Stitch in Time). Let's visit her and the other wonderful ladies who also share their smiles each Friday.
My friend Joseph and his two sons came to Wichita to celebrate his father's 90th birthday a couple of weekends ago. His entire family was in town to celebrate the milestone. Joseph and his family live in the Los Angeles, California area. Joseph is the "baby" of the family and is much younger than his other siblings.
He was blown away by the display he saw a mere three blocks from my house. Since it is on the same side of the street as my house, he took these photos with my camera. I have shown this house before, but the change it a bit each year.
I asked Joseph to stop so I could take photos of this house that caught my eye. More harvest or autumn inspired decorations,
but I was also very impressed with the way the homeowners have almost completely eliminated the grass.
Next we passed the new Sports Complex where the baseball team (minor league) plays. I took this photo from the front window as we were passing the complex. I tried to avoid the blue tint of the glass at the top.
Finally, before going to eat, I showed Joseph and the boys the Mayor's Keeper at our new library. Joseph had never seen any of these before and I explained they are all around town.
I have spent over three hours trying to get my slow internet or blogger to accept these few photos. Now for a few Halloween funnies:
The last one was from Bleubeard. Now PLEASE visit Annie and don't forget to start your weekend with a smile. Just to let you know in advance, I will not be joining Friday Smiles in November, but I will be back on Friday, December 9.
I love that you could spend time with your friend Joseph and his boys. Thank you for sharing your drive by shootings - the only kind I can welcome.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween.
Fabulous Halloween decorations, wow! Happy Friday, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your trip out and all the Halloween decorations. Love the funnies....esp the little doggy ghost.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
Thank you for taking us on your trip with Joseph. Lots to see and enjoy. I love the 'keeper' outside the library.
ReplyDeleteI don't 'do' halloween at all, so I can't comment further on your post, but I hope you enjoy the weekend. hugs, Kate x
Those displays are quite something!
ReplyDeleteThe Halloween decorations are awesome. I like the bridge with the sails across the span. There's a bridge with sails across a lake in the city of Worcester. Halloween funnies really good, but my favorite is the one from Bleubeard. I love that Ink.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the Halloween decor and the funnies.. Love the last one with the black cat! Miss my Jinx! That house you admired with little to no grass.. thats how we plan to do ours here in TX.. If i have any grass it will be in the back yard where we can enjoy it.. We don't spend time out front.. Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth, it weas lovely to join you all for the trip around town. The houses where you live are so big, we have such smaller homes in the UK. Halloween is becoming more popular here but the decoration at the front of that house was amazing. Take care and have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteYour neighborhood has the same midwestern vibe as ours does. The carriage with skeleton horses etc. is a fabulous Halloween display. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit.

Some people really do go all out for Halloween, don't they? There are houses around here that must have five hundred dollars worth of stuff on their lawn.
ReplyDeleteThe Halloween decorations are outstanding! The Mayor’s Keeper is amazing. And I appreciate the Halloween funnies.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really fun drive by shooting. That Halloween house is amazing. I remember you showed it last year (or I think last year). I can't imagine where they store those skeleton horses. And nice other views too. And congrats to Joseph's Dad. 90 is a milestone worth bringing everybody into town for. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThat Halloween display is the most awesome I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteAND the memes are great.
How are you, dear Elizabeth?
I enjoyed reading your post with these photos. The Halloween display is interesting. I really like the Mayor's Keeper. It is amazing.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your "drive by shootings" were so much fun! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I especially love that house that's near you, with the fantastic outdoor Halloween decorations! Wow, just wow! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your drive by shootings, good to see the colourful Keeper of the Plains. Loved most of the funnies! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteEvery time you say "drive-by shootings" I hope nobody died. Seriously, I'm used to the meaning of that phrase being guns fired. Yikes :(
