Strut

This will be my penultimate entry for Neet at Hickydorums, our host this month at Art Journal Journey with her Fur and/or Feathers theme.  I love the word "penultimate."  Not because it signals I am almost finished, but because I just love how it sounds when I say it out loud.

It's time to Strut Your Wings.

I've included a few detail shots.

I started this journal page by spritzing several of my handmade shimmering mists on a sheet of 110 lb. cardstock.  After cutting the bird to size (I accidentally cut off the tip of the bird's wings), I glued it in place, then created ransom style words for the sentiment.  As I've mentioned before, my scanner is on its last leg, but if you want to know the true color, it's on the right side of the scan.

Bleubeard and I are really happy you joined us and hope to see you at Art Journal Journey with your own take on Fur and/or Feathers.  We'll be back tomorrow with our final entry at Art Journal Journey this month.

  2. That background just looks perfect for that bird. What a striking fellow he is too. If you had not said you had chopped the tip of his wing off I would never have known, in fact `i cannot see it even now.
Thanks for another lovely entry for the theme at Art Journal Journey.
    Hugs, Neet xxxx
ps I like how penultimate sounds when you say it too

  4. I love that quote, too. It's something we should all remember to do -- no matter how old we are when we're spreading those wings!

  5. had to read your quote twice because I thought it said trust your wings, which actually works as does strut your wings. But the meanings are different too. This is a super bird page, Elizabeth. I also like how you used the various letters. I haven't done that kind of lettering for so long, maybe it is time to play around with it again. Have a great middle of the week. And great penultimate page! hugs-Erika

  6. Great feather journal page, Elizabeth! A beautiful wing strut by the bird. Great photography by whoever captured that photo. I really love your ransom letters for your sentiment. They are a great contrast to the graceful bird.

  7. As Annie says — super photograph! We are always trying to get interesting bird photos, and it isn’t easy. They definitely don’t wait for you to get your camera ready.
