I confess that I made this last year AND when I loaded it into blogger, it is SO big, it won't fit on the page. So, you will have to click on it to see the entire scan. I guess I saved it wrong, but I do like the resolution you get from this scan.This piece, called "School of Velocity," and something I submitted for Seth Apter's book, The Pulse of Mixed Media, has both dried foliage and stamped foliage. Other items include sheet music and a cabinet card. I hope you enjoy it, because it is one of my favorite pieces. And yes, it is no longer living in my studio, so I can't quite remember what size it is, but I believe around 8.5" X 11" or maybe 8" X 10". The substrate is heavy board.

Oh this page is lovely. I have heard that putting green foliage on a journal page may end up with a bit of mold, you shall see if this is true. I hope not. I love this page!

ReplyDeletethis is just beautiful. when i clicked on the image to see the whole thing - i was blown away!
ReplyDeleteeach component in the piece builds on the next: the shades of green of the leaves and the splash of color of the rose pedal really POP against the black and (off)white of the period sheet music. then, the image of the the woman in the vintage photograph adds to the mystery and pulls the viewer in. but, for me, its the translated title of the piece that fetch the final details to the story.
Well I have tried several times ... clicked on what to me looks like big white space and all I can see is a small red square (a tiny one)... no fair! I guess Friday the 13th isn't lucky for me at the moment?
ReplyDeleteTo answer the question you left on my Magpie's Nest about my wool felting. I felted it all by hand...the needle tool (yellow and green) is shown in the photo with the wool and scissors.
It is key to go straight up and down any twisting and the needles would break. I have had pretty good luck...oh oh better knock on wood!

ReplyDeleteI can tell you exactly where the original is! I own it! You sent it to me over a year ago and I have used it constantly as gift wrap. I make several prints from it, then I tape together and it's gorgeous. Also, I used it for a file folder cover for my filing. When I told you about it, you said that you are paperless now and don't use the folders for bills. I want to thank you again for this lovely collage. I cherish it Elizabeth!
