T Stands For Tea with Ian McNeice (Part 3)

This is a post for T Stands For Tuesday only.  If your Second on the 2nd and your T Stands For Tuesday post is the same, please add it at both links.

Although this is the time of year I normally do a review of my favorite T Tuesday posts from the previous year, I want to share this final Tea with Ian McNeice.

Victor Hogstrom, President and CEO of PBS Kansas has just introduced Ian McNeice to the audience.  We've already consumed tea and cookies.

Victor had a list of questions that had been given to him in advance.
One of the first things asked was how Ian got along with his onscreen son, Joe Absolom.  He said he thought of him as another son.  Apparently they are quite close.  He told about the time they were running the restaurant in Portwenn, the fictional Cornish town in which the the show takes place.  Two American tourists came into the restaurant area while the crew was taking a break.  They asked for reservations and "Bert" (Ian's character) told them he would put them down for 8 p.m..  "Al" (Absolum) asked why he told them that.  Bert said because the crew would be gone by then and the tourists would soon learn they had been tricked.  OK, it is NOT as funny as Ian told it.

Ian talked about playing a Cornish plumber.  He said he never quite got the accent down right, but it was close.  He also joked if he'd gotten the accent perfect, we Americans would never have understood a word he or anyone said.

He talked about playing Albert Fezziwig in A Christmas Carol.

Then others asked him questions, one of which was

playing Dr. Burgess in Season 4 of Midsomer Murders.  He said how welcoming John Nettles (DCI Tom Barnaby) was.  He said the entire crew made him feel at home.  The title of the episode was Who Killed Cock Robin?

Later, when he was signing our cups, I asked him how the crew treated and worked around the pandemic.  He said the entire crew was shut down and sheltered in place for 404 days.

Now to share the cookies we had.  This was NOT a formal Tea, but a get together over tea.

This is what was left after everyone had eaten.  I wish I'd grabbed another brownie with the strawberry on top.

This is my drink reference today.

This is the couple who Ian is staying with in Wichita.
I promise, this is the last time I will show this cup unless you come to my home.

You've seen mine and now it's time to share your own drink related post.  It can be gifts you received, photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, mail art, junk mail, catalogs, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, handmade cards, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, a favorite mug, cup and saucer, teapot, coffee pot, or even a wine glass. Regardless, please join us by linking below.  Bleubeard and I will gladly visit, as will other T participants.  Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Bleubeard would like to remind you that old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year, as this post proves.  Please remember to visit your fellow T participants.

  3. Too bad you didn't have another brownie -- that was also my feeling at New Year's Eve, wishing I could eat another brownie. I ate too much of the rest of the dinner! But you can see the pictures in my blog post today.

Have a great year in blogging! ...mae at maefood.blogspot.com

  5. Yes, that was a really special event. The cookies look delicious, especially the brownies with the strawberry. People have been so modest, or perhaps they had just provided too many. Everyone could have had two!
I'm not doing a second on the 2nd this month, sorry.
    hugs,
    Lisca

  6. I'm glad you shared another post about your outing to meet Ian McNeice. It's an exciting event. And I bet you'll never wash or use that mug-smile. They did put on a nice little spread, and it was nice it wasn't a huge crowd so everyone could actually meet McNeice. I hope your new year is starting off nicely, and that you have a happy T day too. Hugs-Erika

  9. I can see that you really enjoyed this event and I bet it was memorable. I had to laugh about the Cornish accent and that no one would understand it - there are so many accents in Britain that are hard to understand. I finally got used to some of the Scottish and more Northern accents, but there are still too many times when I don't understand them. When we first watched "Shetland" we put on the subtitles. Thankfully, we don't need that anymore.
