Our school

This will be my final entry this month for Art Journal JourneyMia, who many know as Craftartista has been our host this month.  Her theme is Use a photo.

I originally had another page I had created.  It was the first one I created for Mia's theme and I put it somewhere.  However, after spending countless hours searching for it, it is nowhere in sight.  I hope to find it one of these days and maybe I'll be able to use it in a different challenge.

This is an actual photo I've had in my stash for years.

Our school only had one classroom.

For this page, I started by scrunching a used dress pattern over which I placed the photo and the computer generated and colored words.

Bleubeard and I are delighted you joined us today and hope to see you at Art Journal Journey with your own take on Use a photo.  You still have time to enter your own journal page.

  1. I hope your find the missing page (despite loving this one). Our school was small, but not that small.

  2. Hopefully you will find the missing page. On my 4th year of primary school I went to a school that only had 6 children in year 4, so year 1 and 4 had classes together. Poor teacher, couldn't have been easy.
    This is a sweet photo.

  3. This is a great journal page for Mia's journal.
My Mom went to a one room school house-grades 1-12 amazing to me-just a couple kids in each grade

  4. This is a fun last page. I love that old photo. It looks like a girls school, and those children have some very nice vintage outfits. I wonder what school was like then. I know what you mean about putting a page down and then not being able to find it. And I hate when that happens. See you tonight for T. hugs-Erika

  5. I would love to know more about the photo. Where and when it was taken? Why no child is smiling? But I assume you bought it without any info.

  6. Cool page an vintage photo. We have a one room schoolhouse in my town though it is no longer used and belongs to the town historical society. I saw on the weather you were getting a deep freeze. I hope you and the boys can stay warm.

  7. Great photo - I really hope that adult is the teacher! LOL. The dress pattern makes the perfect backdrop for your page. I can totally relate to “losing” / misplacing pages, collages and whole books in my art room! I’m sure it will show up eventually. :)

  8. Fun page, those were the days. I Often lose things I've put aside for a bit, they seem to go to the land of no return, along with lost socks, gloves, keys etc!See you later for T, hugs!

  11. I "binge-watched" Little house on the Prairie on Sunday.
I´ll never understand how a teacher can have kids of all ages in one class!

And the the chaos we had back then. I once dreamed I came to a new school and never found the correct classroom.

Your art is soothing compared to that!

  12. I love that photo. It reminds me of one I found in my grandparents' photos. A different time. It was hard enough being in a combine 5/6 class (right after we moved). I can't imagine all ages.

  15. This is lovely. It is peculiar how we lose things! Then find them!
