Looking back on a life well lived

I had another post planned today, then decided I wanted to pay tribute to the woman for whom I was named.  My grandmother (grandparents raised me from birth), who was British through and through, insisted I be named after the Queen.

Here are pictures of the lady I never met, but was raised to respect, just like I was raised to respect our Presidents and the laws of the land.

Things of note.  She was quite a fashion leader and always believed in being colorful.  Of course, those handbags she carried were . . . .  Here is the Queen through the decades.

  1. She was beautiful and full of humor - sad you never met her!
Most I love how she and her husband truly did love each other and my fav pic is the one where she giggles passing by him being a "guard"!
I think I could´ve not just grin and giggle - sad she wasn´t allowed too just jump into his arms and kiss him!
Believe me, I have tears rolling down going through this post, dear Elizabeth!

She was in the news and on some channels all day and they all said she was so often in Germany, also informal.
It was never about WWII - she knew this is a new Germany.
What a lady. And that´s how she left. Very consequent.

  5. The Queen sure was something. I heard she wore the bright colors so she could easily be seen in the crowds.

  8. The photo tributes to the Queen have all been really enjoyable to see — your selection is really nice. More emphasis on her family rather than on her state duties. I also enjoyed others that showed her with the government leaders of her time — all of them

  10. Thank you for these beautiful photos. I decided it was right to change my friday post after having scheduled it so pleased you approved. The queen was a lady who was able to bring people all over the world together. She will be greatly missed and I don't think we will see the like ever again but look forward to seeing how King Charles moves things on. Have a good weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx
