It's time to once again join Wendy, our host this month at Art Journal Journey, with her theme entitled Birds.
Today's birds are called Winter in New England. This is how I remember New England, at least.
I thought I would show a close up
of the sewing. I used different threads on the gray border than I did on the white border. I also used a different stitch pattern on the gray, but it didn't work out too well.
I used a third variegated thread combination when I sewed the sentiment in place.
For this page, I started by running four colors of water soluble crayon over the 110 lb cardstock. Once dry, I weighted it down under a heavy book for two days, but it never completely lost its warp. Finally, I sewed and changed thread, sewed and changed thread, and sewed and changed thread to create this fun page that's really for the birds.Thanks beyond belief for visiting Bleubeard and me today. ReplyDeleteIt sounds stupid but I´m glad I really can change thread now, too! Maaaybe I´ll try and sew something we can even use, wish me luck... Last time I did that I was 13 years old and I hated it.
Oh, P.S.... that´s google or blogger with the robot-thingy, I didn´t change anything.

ReplyDeleteA lovely page especially the cardinals, but too early for Winter in New England, dear. 😉 Hopefully, we won't get as much snow as on your card. The weather dudes are saying with La Nina, we're in for a mild weather. I also think it was warm and not a lot of snow in Siberia during October which is another predictor. I don't care which is correct. The less snow the better as far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteYes that does look like an idyllic New England scene. Maybe a little too idyllic for reality. No snow drifts or blowing wind-smile! But pretty. I am most taken by the brown house in the distance of the image you used. My eyes went right ot the porch. That must be what my husband wants to build. It is all he is talking about, but I know his track record at completion. Smile. Maybe when he retires. The stitching you used is quite pretty and really frames the image. And the cardinals are always so beautiful. They never seem to look scruffy like some birds do when they molt. Hope you are feeling much better today. Hugs-Erika

ReplyDeleteLovely journal page and I was tempted to say "Old England too" minus the flag of course but then we don't have such colourful birds as those either. Love the stitching, especiall y on the frame of the picture.
