My next recycling project

I had hoped to have completed this before my 22 days of recycling was over.

However, I have actually just begun it.  The cover will be cut from an empty tissue box.

I began by measuring the size of the "pages," then added an 1/8 inch to each long side.

I used the tool on the right to create ridges in the center of each "page."

Decorative scissors and a fancy circle punch made short time of the closed side of the "page."

This will now allow four pages and two pockets once it is added to the book.

To keep with the recycling theme, I covered the inside of the cover with a piece of scrap printer paper.  This is the first "page" and the inside cover.

For the next "page," I sprayed on some of my handmade shimmering mists.

That is where I am at the moment.  Do you recognize where I got these?

Long time T Tuesday participants will remember when I ate a Chicken Noodle Dinner in January, 2018.  The "page" was actually a container holding utensils.

When others learned I was saving them to make art, they contributed theirs, too.

Thanks for joining me today.  I am SO grateful that you are here and I am able to post on this blog again.  Thank you beyond belief.  I am very, very thankful and grateful for your support through this nightmare, too.

  2. Ooh, a lovely paper bag book - fully recycled. Excellent, Elisabeth! I remember teaching a class on this and had never made one before I taught it - steep learning curve the day before, but it made a perfect scrapbook of my (then) recent trip to France for a friend's son's wedding and I still have it! I used lots of ribbons and twine to decorate and was really pleased with it.
Your home made glimmer sprays look wonderful. I keep a clear one handy for spraying over inky backgrounds - it really does add interest.
Love this and I'm so pleased that you are 'back home' ;-) I'm sure you are, too! Yay!

your project with the tissue paper box is gorgeous. these boxes often have such a nice design, i often thought to collect them for further use. but in the end they mostly found their way to the recycling bin, only sometimes i cut out backgrounds for atcs.

  11. Very nice recycling project. I like it. Nice way to use up those utensil packets. There is so much extra wrapping in our germaphobia world, isn't there? (Some needed, some not). I like the look of the cover too. You must still be excited to be back on your blog. ANd I hope you like your goodie package contents. I decided to keep with your recycle theme and go through some of my supplies, including a few of my finds on the Hobby Lobby discount shelf. I never know what people prefer, so I tried to make it a little bit of everything. If you don't like it, please feel free to recycle to someone else. I bagged up 7 trash bags of books today to put in the book recycle bin. Feels good. Happy day. Hugs-Erika

  12. What a fun book you are making. I can't wait to see the process you are going to use to bind it together. I'm not good at the binding part so I have faith I'll learn something here.

  16. I appreciate how you find these re-uses for items we often don't even notice. I can't remember the last time I saw these utensil covers, but I've been saving those decorative Kleenex boxes ever since I started my current ATC binge :) They're actually kinda pretty :)
