Summer flowers

Since Bleubeard and I are hosting Art Journal Journey this month, you probably know by now that our themes are My Favorite Season or 'Tis the Season.

Today we have chosen summertime, which we believe is flower time.  Although I'm not a fan of summer, it was not a season I could just entirely ignore.  This spread was driven by the hot colors one associates with summer.

I especially liked the fantasy flowers.

For this spread, I began by laying down an orange water soluble crayon on my 110 lb card stock substrate.   The pages that I glued it over were covered with graphs and words I didn't want shown.  While that was drying, I laid down turquoise water soluble crayon onto copier/printer paper.  I then used my Xyron to allow them to quickly and easily stick to the substrate.  Finally, I did the same to the flowers, so there was no glue on this spread, except what I used to attach the substrate and the computer generated words.

Thank you for spending time with Bleubeard and me today and we also hope to see you at Art Journal Journey.

As an aside, in case you haven't already, please check out my right sidebar.  A few things have changed and a few things will be leaving at midnight tonight.  Some will soon be on my Previous Collaborations page located under Bleubeard's adorable face.

  4. Love the colorful flowers which is very well done, but like you, I'm no fan of summer months. Sweating and bugs are not my friends(lol) Ironically, I started doing some work in my Planner for May, and added a few flower stickers.(lol) Happy Thursday to you and HUGE Hugs...RO

  6. Definitely summery pages, Elisabeth - I LOVE flowers and the colours of summer - and I LOVE the heat, but that's probably because we often get so little of it where I live, lol.

Hope you're having a lovely, peaceful break and enjoying the quiet.

  10. This is such a pretty page Elizabeth! I’m with you - I think summer may be my least favourite season, but I love the way you’ve created this page. I’m so glad you are getting so much use out of these crayons!

  11. I love summertime! Heat and flowers :) Your orange background and varied full blooms bring the season back to me. It's high in the 60s/rain/high winds today, so it's hard to tell what season it is here lol

  18. Great depiction of Summer time with those flowers Elizabeth, their patterns remind me of printed fabrics, beautiful outlined design. The extreme weather last Summer made me realise just how hardy some of those delicate flowers are still managing to source water allowing them to thrive.
It's a fab topic which again I have failed to participate enough in.
    Hugs Tracey x
