I'm once again joining Alison/Craftytrog, our host this month at Art Journal Journey with her theme of recycle and collage.
Once again, I pulled out bits and pieces from my predominately yellow and beige scraps to create this spread in my large art journal. It's already getting thick and doesn't want to lay flat. I've used less than 1/4 of this old calendar journal and I suspect by the time it's complete at the end of the year, it will be bulging.
I did a bit of sewing,
and a new technique I read about called "thread painting." It's how I made the simple arrows. 
Note the background is a piece of the beautiful tissue Krisha sent me for my birthday.
Everything was recycled today with the exception of the background tissue and two types of variegated thread. Even the yarn came from my craft room floor. Also included were a portion of an algebra book sprayed with some of my handmade shimmering mist, a blueprint, a piece of ancient sheet music, a stencil, yellow card stock, a failed transparency, yarn, and a magazine image.Thank you beyond belief for joining me today, and I hope to see you at Art Journal Journey.

ReplyDeleteIt's rich with stitch! Good for you to try the thread painting on the arrows. It looks good, and I like a 'fat" art journal- it shows you've really accomplished something.

ReplyDeleteOne of the many things I like about your blog is the way you describe, in words, your art as well as showing many photographs of it. Nice that you did some thread painting and I love the arrows against the orange, and gosh, I remember algebra now after all these years of not remembering it. And of course including a family of teddies from the big one to the little one is a sure-fire way of getting my attention.
It's a fun collage.
Hope the boys are well and getting all the attention they deserve.
