Second Thursday Tutorial is late

I apologize because I have been unable to create anything.  I've been gone for most of the past two days, and had not felt like creating anything for days on end prior to that.  I'll leave you with a few photos of some lovely fabric and lace books my friend Kathy made.  I took the photos while we were driving, so some may be hard to see.  One thing about Kathy.  She believes in more and more and more and more.  And even that is often not enough.

Can you tell this began as a tea cup and saucer?  I think the cups and saucers were die cut from a very hard, thick board.

Personally, I couldn't have created a better Second Thursday Tutorial, so I leave you with these photos of beautiful lace, lace, trim, more lace, and lovely embellishments Kathy used to create these two books.   All of the images were printed on fabric, too.

Finally, when I was finished photographing them, I gently laid them in the back seat where they were safe on their drive home.

I hope to have will have something for you by next Thursday, so please don't cross this month's tutorial off just yet.  And thanks for joining me today so we can all go ga-ga over these books.

  2. So sorry to hear you still aren't feeling yourself and I do hope all is well again soon.

Kathy's work is just amazing and she must have so much patience to do all of the projects. I wouldn't know where to start to make even one of them. Well done Kathy you are very talented.

Look forward to your tutorial when you are feeling better Elizabeth

  4. I certainly have times that I have no creating time. As long as you are having fun, that's all that's matters. And of course when you were sick, and as long as you are feeling better, that is good. Wow, Kathy's book is gorgeous. She does know how to lace it up and make it frilly. I'm not a super lace girl myself but I can appreciate the details and beautiful work she made. It sounds like you are having a good few days being out and about. :) Happy Thursday. Hugs-Erika

  6. The selection of laces, ribbons, and beading just beautiful. Especially with the older photographs. Very Victorian. What treasures your friend created. Hope you're feeling better soon.

  7. Ga ga over her books is right! They are exquisite. I would love to see Kathy's collection of lace and bits. She must have tons, and yet she chooses just the right combo of elements for each page. More and more and more really works for her. What a talent. Thanks for sharing. Do hope you continue to get better. I had something similar and did not go near my sewing room for two weeks- just not a spark of energy. Not our style!

  10. This was a great trip through extravaganzian textiles. I like to make textiles as flat as possible and veer towards minimalism so it was a treat to see these which are so different. Good for you for taking the opportunity to create a different kind of blogpost and thanks to Kathy for making these great pieces and allowing us to see them.
