Bali

I know this is wimpy, but I simply had to join Yvonne of Meggy's Way, our wonderful host at Art Journal Journey this month.   In case you didn't know, Yvonne wants us to get off our computers and go out and about.

So although I put this together in less than three hours, here is my first time out and about this month.

As you can see, we are headed to beautiful Bali, which is in Indonesia.  Technically it is an island and province of Indonesia. The province includes the island of Bali and a few smaller islands.

The capital of Bali is Denpasar.   Although tourism is a big part of Bali's economics, due to unrest and wars, often causing tourist to be caught in the crossfire, tourism is less than ideal since the mid-2000s.

Materials included a used file folder, which I always use for my 7 Continents altered book, handmade shimmering mists, three images from three different travel magazines, and a black Sharpie pen.

Thanks for joining me today as I start to get out and about with Yvonne and Art Journal Journey.  I hope to see you there, too.

As an aside, this is my old scanner.  Late last night, Scott and I finally found a way for it to talk to my new computer.  The one my friend Scott ordered for me didn't work for my purposes, so I gave it to him.   He didn't realize I scan a great deal of 3-D art (like my altered books), and the scanner he got me was made for scanning documents.  My new laser printer works incredibly, and my old ink jet that I've had since 2000, is humming along nicely.  Since both printers and my old scanner work great, I'm a very happy camper.  A bit sick still, but incredibly happy.

  6. A beautiful destination, I love this page Elizabeth and am so pleased that you took me to a warm place today at AJJ. Although I am a country person by choice, the beach scene and the big umbrella to relax under, looks so inviting

I hope you're feeling better each day.

Are you still coughing or are you better? If coughing you may want to think about getting to the doctor......

  11. Beautiful page and interesting post Elizabeth.
It's good to have back up equipment - your other printer is doing well 17 years old - I think stuff was more sturdier in those days.
Sorry to hear you're still poorly - look after yourself and take care
and hope all's well soon. (and thanks for your lovely comments x )

  12. Eat Pray Love is all I can think of when I think of Bali. A friend's brother lives there, and we know another gal whose husband is from Bali and they go every two years to visit his family. It still seems improbably and so far away in fantasy land. Nice page, the flavor is there and a bit of history is always welcome. Soooo glad your computer woes are easing up! xox

Do a tour of the Indian Ocean and Pacific Islands? Love where you go out and about. :) Hope tomorrow you feel great and the left overs of your virus are all gone! Hugs-Erika

  18. Oh Elizabeth, I could use a little Bali right now! Glad to hear about the computer.

And thank you, thank you for your wonderful comments on our good news posts! The story of your friend's birth was scary. We had our own scary moments before but all was well and we're over the moon with joy. Your visits and comments mean such a lot. I'm so grateful we discovered each others' blogs!

  19. I sympathize with you, when technology doesn't work as it should I get frustrated. I want to make art and share art, not be stuck trying to figure out shy a gadget won't let me do something. Glad it's worked out for you! Looking forward to seeing all you photos and art from Bali. Your layout is a wonder preview.

  21. Gosh and here I thought of Bali as an idyllic place to visit.
Maybe it's Fiji I was thinking of.
At any rate you have created a beautiful page here and shared some interesting info as always.
I am just now getting around to visiting after being unplugged again.
I'll probably never completely catch up.
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
