It's Back to School time at Art Journal Journey

Greetings!  We are Bleubeard and Elizabeth and are delighted and incredibly honored to be invited by Valerie and Susi to host Art Journal Journey (AJJ) for the month of September.  Bleubeard is the face of our blog and always gets top billing.  

I am the behind-the-camera half of the duo, a mixed media artist who creates the art, usually in an altered book.  Of course, I've been known to dye fabric and paper, and sew torn fabric in my strange wonky way.

Although you may remember me from my altered book classes I offered as a way of giving back a few years ago, I have put those away and started a used spiral bound journal that I will mostly gesso over and devote exclusively to this month's art.

Whether you are pre-K through high school, heading off to college, or conducting post graduate studies, it’s time to head Back to School, our theme for September.

So grab those back packs, then fill them with crayons, rulers, iPads, notebooks, colorful pens, and pencils.  

Put on your new clothes, and head Back to School.  

And don’t forget to honor those teachers who shaped or will shape your mind over the years.

Materials I used to create this page include three blank standardized student test sheets, a rubber stamp, postage stamp, gifted star, dimensional embellishment, scrapbook paper, colored and punched images, magazine images, encyclopedia entry, and computer generated clip art.
