Here is a very old post from August 29, 2008. Not sure I've gotten any better at making my quiltlets, but this post is about the time I started.
Quiltlets to practice sewing
I'm trying to learn to sew, so made these little quiltlets to practice.

I hope you enjoyed this look back at the first quiltlets I made. Back then I had no concept of composition, perspective, or balance. Those things had to come (and are still coming) slowly with time and practice. Of course, I still can't sew a straight line! At least I never had to worry about color, because it's the one thing I've always been good with. I don't need a color wheel to tell me when the color is right and when it sets my teeth on edge.
Now it's time for you to link your second look on the 2nd. The rules are quite simple and everyone is welcome to join the fun look back. All you have to do is bring back a post that you are especially proud of, or one you shared before anyone knew your blog existed. Then link below and Bleubeard and I, along with other Second on the 2nd friends, will be by to visit. If you are new to Second on the 2nd, and your blog post permits only GOOGLE+ responses, I (and several others) can´t comment on your entry. It's all in the way you set up your blog responses.
Please be aware this link is only open for five days, so it's best to post sometime on the 2nd.
Your little quilts are wonderful, I LOVE them, it looks like you had a lot of fun with them. Happy 2nd on the 2nd, hugs, Valerie

I think this is a wonderful little piece. I personally like messy stitching for arty pieces, not to say yours looks messy because it is NOT at all. I love the beauty of the lace and the the great faces. Beautiful work Elizabeth. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI do remember how quiltlets really busted onto the scene and were really it for a while. You really do have a love for sewing. I really like the hanger you created as well...that must have been rough on your hands!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty -- I love the photographs included in the quilt.
ReplyDeleteOh are these sweet. Love them Elizabeth. The laces so compliment their lovely faces. xox
