R is the latest Craft Barn alpha letter
When I think of The Craft Barn's latest alpha challenge letter R, it is _______________________. Let me give you a clue. I have over 450 of them in sizes no bigger than a dime to several that a person can ride. You may have guessed it is Rocking Horse. Yes, that's my first thought, and I have several rubber stamps I could have used. Instead, I went with
Rocking Rabbit. I know Karen used rabbit as her DT entry, but I thought this is not just a rabbit. It has special skills.
Since rock can be a verb or a noun (rock as in what you throw), I went with the verb, which means a rocking motion.
I used a gelli print of painted gears and cogs for the background and stacked a few rocking rabbits up like bowling pins. Before anyone asks, the stamp is by Stampa Rosa and was copyrighted in 2002. However, I bought it a couple of years ago at my local craft/scrapbook/stamping/mixed media store.
I know there's been some talk about using any definition, not necessarily the one(s) from the dictionary, but since this is the first time I've played in this challenge, I wanted to use the real dictionary definition as well as the pronunciation. Both words are represented and are from my American Heritage Dictionary.
Because my gelli background wasn't large enough to fit the length of the book page, I added part of another painted page at the bottom. I think I should have left it off, but it was too late once I saw it didn't really match.
Thanks for visiting and leaving such lovely comments on my last Craft Barn entry. For the previous word, I was able to visit and leave comments on every blog, but not on the other social media sites some used.

Yes, I would have expected rocking horse or rust from you! But a rocking rabbit is different, and a great idea. Looks like you had fun making this page. Have a good start to the week, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYour Rocking Rabbit is fabulous, I love it.
ReplyDeletexxx Hazel.
I think the second gelli page works well. It balances the page with the denser paintwork and is connected by the purple paint of the top page. I love the rocking rabbit too, two 'r's for the price of one.
ReplyDeleteYou rock with the rocking rabbit idea! Had expected rocking horses indeed ..yes.. but you surprised me --as so often!
ReplyDeleteHappy new week Elizabeth!

ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been by much, I've been staying off the PC more.....and I had to play G-ma last week with an ill GD. Of course it interfered with the second on the second......:((
Rotten luck that the grape juice didn't dye your chosen fabrics, it sure stains anything I am wearing....LOL But it was a great tutorial.
