Chelle, our Journal 52 host, asked us to show what we are grateful for this 33rd week. Click through and you'll see that Chelle took the easy way out, using scrapbook paper and a staple.
So I also took the easy way out, coloring a sheet of vintage sheet music using my handmade shimmering mists. To that, I added a portion of a security envelope I also spritzed with my shimmering mists. Then I typed out my gratitude
and sewed it in my wonky fashion to the page. I then attached the entire thing to my substrate, which is a used file folder.
Thanks to everyone who visits, because this is the only place you will see how appreciative I am of all of YOU, my loyal internet friends. Now I'm off to run several errands, then hopefully find time to grab a bite to eat with my friend Sally.
Hi Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteGreat things to be grateful for. Our pets certainly help us, don't they.
I didn't take that photo - found it on pinterest (wish I had taken it!)
Hugs,
Kay
What a lovely page of gratitude.
ReplyDeleteI like your list (ah coffee!), and I like that you mention both "real" and Internet friends, blogging friends are precious, I agree.
Sweet! I would have these on my list, too. Except that it would be Karma instead of Bleubeard--LOL! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this! of course the pink! and yes, the green...and the envelope makes it look like an open book...was that your intention? anyway. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI really like this, I like the colors, the text, the stitching, the various pieces you used. It may be my all time favorite of your pieces.

This is just fantastic! The colors are beautiful and love the composition!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a cat, but I am on-board today with the rest of your list. :) Coffee and friends make a great combo :)
ReplyDeleteNice list of gratitude's. We all have so much to be grateful for.
ReplyDeleteYour page is beautiful, love pink and green together, and the way you laid everything out on it.
Your pink and green creation here is so very pleasing...like the perspective you achieved with paper
ReplyDeleteAND

I raise my coffee cup to special on line friends like you E!!!
Happy Weekend...

Adore this page. Love the colours and how the security envelope draws the eye in. I showed my group how you can use the security envelopes for the Iris Folding, some knew already but none knew they were SECURITY envelopes in that the patterns on the inside were to stop you seeing what was inside!
ReplyDeleteI'm not feeling much gratitude at the moment, been having lady issues and the doctor prescribed antibiotics which upset my stomach so I can't take them (hopeless with medicines by mouth) Just everything has compounded and I am feeling horrid today so it was a delight to read your comment and how I made you laugh. BJ
I really like this entry... sometimes we forget that we really do have lots to be grateful for everyday. Thank you for being my cyber-friend! I value that connection.
ReplyDeleteNice grateful list. It's always so important to spend time with our beloved companions, they do so much for us and then cajole exactly what they want out of us with their loving charm. Coffee, yes, please. xox
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, I'm so far behind, but I will catch up (but maybe not today - which is already 9pm). But - I wanted to let you know I think this page is beautiful! I love your colours, and that is a wonderful gratitude list! I'm very thankful for YOU and your lovely visits to my blog and the mail we've exchanged over how many years now?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of my blog - I wanted to let you know about the magazine image. I did not put water all over it, just for the "tears". But the secret for any thin paper like magazines is to use the dryest adhesive possible (I used glue stick) and then wait for it to dry completely before adding anything else to the top. Hard for me - I hate watching paint (or glue) dry, but it makes such a difference! Then I added a super thin coating of gesso - the blue paint was just picked up on the edge of my sponge from the lid I was using as a pallette, but I didn't mind that happy accident. Once that was completely dry I drew under her eyes with a black water soluable crayon. I used a wet brush to activate the crayon and held it up so that gravity would pull the tears in the right direction. So although I think the gesso helped, the real secret is to make sure each layer is 100% dry before adding another. Hope that helps. The IC I did using watered down acrylics for "tears" a few weeks ago was also on a magazine image with no gesso and it didn't buckle. I will be back to finish catching up soon!
