Today I'm actually honoring my grandmother (as many of you know, my grandparents raised me from birth). My grandmother drank coffee in the morning and she's the one who got me drinking it. When I didn't like the taste of milk, she began adding a small amount of coffee to my milk. Now I drink both. At the same time.
But that was breakfast, and regardless what my grandmother was doing, at four in the afternoon she always stopped and had a cup of tea. She was, after all, British. Very British.
She also had a snack with her tea each day. Sometimes it was something sweet, sometimes it was something savory. Somehow, it didn't seem to spoil her appetite, or her figure, since she never weighed over 100 lbs the entire time I knew her. 
So today, I heated up my oven (and my kitchen), and made some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. You can tell they are homemade, or the chips would be more evenly distributed.So now it's your turn. ReplyDeleteIn India we follow many of the British customs. One of them is having tea at 4.00 in the evening with some snack. Your oatmeal cookies look delicious. My kids love them.

Now if your grandmother had been Italian, like mine, they would have been adding wine to your water. Although mine were Italian, they never did this!

ReplyDeleteHow sweet...I've pretended to have tea with my Grandma once before...made me feel close to her even though we never met. Those rituals and traditions are something that really needs to be kept alive.
