(Please click to enlarge)I decided to use a paper doll to create a page in my altered book. I got the idea based on a (free) class I'm teaching on my blog because last week we discussed glue and tape in the lesson. I realized I could use some tape that came as wrapping on a gift from my friend Annette (aka Voodoo Vixen). The doll was courtesy of Priti.Lisa. She is such a sweetie and she sent me several pages of paper dolls. The house, as I previously mentioned, although "designed" by me, is courtesy of Annette. The bunnies and grass are left over from a previous project. You probably can't tell, but the "doll" was attached using pop dots. The theme of this book is "houses," and the page is called "Anna's doll house," so it fit in well with the theme of my altered book, as well as the theme for this week's IA challenge.

As I said on my own post, I loved playing with paper dolls as a child. Ok, maybe I still do (grin).

ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, I loved toys, plushies, and dolls, but I also loved running around in the mud, playing tag, rough-housing, and doing more "boy" like things. As a grown-up, I can be as crass as some of my guy friends if the occasion calls for it... but I love "Hello Kitty," wear pink, and still love toys. It's always cool to hear about other girls and what side of the fence they are in terms of being girly or not, and in terms of liking toys-- especially dolls, which I know some people think are too girly, and/or disturbing. As far as I am concerned, "Toy Story" and "The Velveteen Rabbit" have taught us that they all are secretly somehow alive when we're not watching-- crazy to believe, but I somehow do :-p
ReplyDeleteBut I actually think Paper Dolls are some of the best kinds of dolls, because they teach a lot. A little girl interested in clothing can draw her own patterns for a paper doll, or even become inspired to make her own character designs and draw the dolls herself. Your Anna is a very cute girl and doll, and I think a kid would love to play with her, and make things for her. She has a great facial expression and overall design, and I like how happy yet mischevious she looks in her house (-:

ReplyDeleteI really don't know how I passed the fifth or sixth grades because all I remember is sitting in the back of the classroom drawing paper doll clothes for mine and my friends paper dolls. Don't remember playing with them as much as I loved to cut them out and make my own and their clothes....doubt I could even do that now!!!! I love you house of tape!!!

ReplyDeleteScritches to Bluebeard, you and me both Elizabeth! Although I did love barbies, I really never got into the traditional doll thing. I loved stuffed animals but really didn't play with baby dolls. I did have a betsy wetsy that you could feed but it kinda bugged me that I'd then have to clean her up! She mostly sat in the basement with the broken toys (very few broken though, I was one of THOSE children)
