Inspiration Avenue: The Sun

This week the challenge at Inspiration Avenue is the Sun, as chosen by Gemma, and co-hosted by IA team member Hettiene. Since I got such a wonderful response last week, when I co-hosted, I simply had to play, even though I had limited time to do so.

I used one of my pre-primed blocks of wood (size is 8 inches X 10 1/2 inches X 1 inch, sorry I didn't have time to convert to metric) I painted with sunny colors. Next I copied the 3/4 side view of a woman whose image I found in a magazine (I hope you didn't think I was good enough at drawing that I did that image on my own!). The sentiment came from my printer that I colored with pigment ink, and the paper is some gorgeous pink with embossed silver swirls I found in my stash. I had just enough for the dress. I showed this view so you could see the size of the block and how I painted all around.

This view is scanned and the colors (and details) are so much more vibrant. As for the sun? It's actually the green top from a strawberry that I pressed and dried, then painted to look like the sun.

Please hop over to Inspiration Avenue to see the rest of the entries on Sunday afternoon.

  21. This is beautiful and I love the colors! It's sometimes hard on days that are cloudy, whether literally or in a person's heart, but we all hold sunshine in our palms and inside us if we can just let it shine out. Thanks for posting something so uplifting and pretty <3
