I think I'm back online! (A not-so-silent Sunday)

It's been a harrowing three weeks around here. I apologize that I have not been around and that I have been unable to visit you, my dear friends and loyal followers. In fact, I was a bit surprised I had any followers left at all, because a blog is only as good (and healthy) as its blog posts and visits the blog owner makes to other blogs.

So what have I been doing since I had no computer? One thing I did was visit two local "museums." I'm not sure that is what you call the Sedgwick County Zoo, or our local botanical gardens called Botanica, but I went, I explored, I took over 300 photos. Then I downloaded the file that contained all those photos and deleted the images on the camera card so I could take other photos. But when I did, the computer I downloaded them to got a virus, and I lost every single one of those photos!! I also lost all my photos of Christmas and celebrations leading up to Christmas. The only photos I managed to save were some I took and saved to my blog and my friend Scott's offsite storage. Somehow I wish I'd saved all those photos there, instead of a local computer hard drive.

Although I don't have the tutorial ready today, I will post it tomorrow, hoping a tutorial will help start the year off right and I won't loose any friends to the interweb ether.

As for Silent Sunday, I'm almost tempted to get rid of it, since people don't seem too interested in the museums (or possibly my photos) in my city. Above is a photo of a tornado exhibit at Exploration Place, where I have shown photos for the past three Sundays I was online.

The tornado took forever to build up and swirl (note the barely noticeable swirls at the top). Because it was a very busy day at the museum, it didn't ever complete the process before

some child came along and jumped into the tornado.

A smaller tornado that didn't have smoke, but exhibited how people got tossed around, was a favorite of children and their video happy parents! The local garments and outside greenery belies the fact it was mid-September when I took these photos.

Should I continue Silent Sunday, or after 2 years and nearly seven months, call it quits? Regardless, I'll be back tomorrow with a tutorial and as many visits to blogging friends as I can pack into a night and day!

  1. So glad you are back :D. And oooooooooooo you're so lucky to have a botanic garden near by!! I do believe I'm green with envy :D. We've even had a mostly green December and (so far) January. I'm thankful for lower energy bills, though it is a bit freakish.
