What's on YOUR Worktable Wednesday # 63

I'm so happy that I made it around to every desk last week in two days. Very little sleep, but it was well worth it. Of the 94 genuinely wonderful comments and the several e-mails from last week, only Jo of JoZart noticed my "hidden rocking horse." Since Jo is not near a work desk this week, I'll leave it to others to notice my rocking horse. Guess I hid last week's too well. In case you missed it, I have promised to show one or more of my over 450 rocking horses each week. Today I was pretty obvious because WOYW Wendy wants to ride this one.

On my desk besides the rocking horse is one of my new Martha Stewart punches I got for half price on Sunday and a lacy strip it cuts that I will use on one of the ATCs I'm making. Been working on these two off and on for three days and I'm no further than what you see. While painting the backgrounds, I also "dyed" a strip of muslin to match. My dye of choice was Staz-On reinkers mixed with 91% alcohol. I wiped out the cups using the muslin.

On today's WOYWW (hopeful) brevity:

The secret of a good sermon is to have a good beginning and a good ending; and to have the two as close together as possible.
~George Burns

Today's sermon blog is another WOYWWer. Donna Louise Rodgers, also known as Doone, is a fantastic artist and painter. Her faces are stunning and I'm always inspired with the bright and vivid colors she uses in her art. But faces are only a part of what her blog is about. She makes super mixed media art, sketches that should be framed, and she makes me laugh with her funny take on life. Doone lives in Derby, England (which is in the UK). WOYWWer or not, you should check out Doings of Doone today.

  1. Totally missed last weeks rocking horse, will have to go back! Love this one, all roundy and cute. ANd hey bless you and thank you, finally you've inspired me to do the card I need for the DT - it was looking very unlikely, but your dyeing technique toady may well be just the job. Stand by.
Are you cooler after the storm or is it creeping back up? And gosh, GBurns was right. I should stop!!

  13. Following on from your comment on my blog - I won the carousel at CHA a couple of years ago. Me who wins nothing! Anyway,I just got a raffle ticket from MM for something. Went back at designated time and they shouted my number out - I was totally gobsmacked. My friend (who I stay with) swore it would not fit on my desk and therefore it should stay with her. It travelled home in my carry on (too heavy for my hold baggage) and has been great for all my "want this handy" things.

  24. Oh my gosh! Elizabeth, you own 450 rocking horses? I guess that number didn't register when I read your other postings about them. Some must be very small or you have a very, very large home!

  28. Hi Elizabeth, thank you for choosing me - I am very flattered, and I am NOT a sermoniser so shall continue to go to great lengths in all fields of all areas and talk talk talk For I know not when to stop.........unless you hand me a paint brush or pencil then I go a bit silent for a very long time.....I can see the horse today (even though as I pointed out on someones blog comment box I am Blind (And Stupid) - love the muslin 'trick' I do so love the 'incidental art' we create as by products of our use of what is at hand to do soemthing... am now gazing at my cotton cleaning cloth and I think I have a spot I could use on an ATC........

A good blog should have a begining and an end and be hugely separated by images of FAB ART and filled in around the edges by rants/whinges and general let's change the world stuff... (DLR 2010)
