I started by laying down some watercolors (pink and yellow), then made a mask for the hair while that was drying. I used repositionable glue to hold down the mask, first one direction, then flipped to the other. When these watercolors were dry, I added the love stencil and punchinella (sequin waste) using dye ink and a finger daubber. Then I used my new black acrylic paint to outline the hair. I finished it off with two birds in the hair of one of the images. Feel free to enlarge to see the details. This piece is 8.5 X 11 and I am thrilled with the outcome, even though it is simple. I've made so few things lately that turned out well, this put a smile on my face.And since I am stenciling, I thought a few of my readers might not know how to make their own stencils. So I found a web site devoted to just that. It is called Spray Paint Stencils. The tutorial for making your own reusable stencils is far better than anything I could offer. It is here. ReplyDeleteOh Elizabeth this is adorable. I thought the two birds were bows at first. This would be perfect as a gift made for my niece and granddaughter. They are best friends. I love the 60's tie dye colors. Great job with this one, I see why it made you smile...it made me smile too!
