Since the heat index here yesterday was 109 F (that's a whopping 42 + C) I didn't feel like making art. So today I thought I would move that big unadorned letter E out of the way in order for you to see what's hidden behind it on top of my metal cabinet. And for those of you who aren't really sure, yes, I collect all kinds of rocking horses. They are EVERYWHERE in my house, from tiny blown glass to a huge brass one that children can ride. At last count, I have over 450.
Although it reads "key blanks," (tip: always use removable labels to mark your containers, not permanent ink pens) all these containers have either dye reinkers, pigment reinkers, or Staz-On reinkers, sorted by type of ink, not brand or color. Do I stamp? Not really? Do I collect reinkers? Well, sort of. I actually use them to dye fabric, and to make paper backgrounds (see my tutorials for the many and varied backgrounds that use them). Even if I were to stamp, I would far rather buy a reinker and a cosmetic sponge than a stamp pad. To me, it's more economical. Behind the reinkers is a big mirror that reaches to the ceiling. It adds much needed light to the space.And yes, I'm that short! That cabinet comes to the top of my head. In the first photo, I was actually standing on a step stool to take the shot.

I havent been doing too much crafting as its been hot for me and its nowhere near that heat here! thankfully we had rain yesterday so its cooled down so I am looking forward to a play day today! I love your letter E - I have been waiting ages for a letter N to come into Hobbycrafts and they finally came in last week but I havent treated myself yet as I have too many other projects on the go at the moment! Morning!! Late but still here! Sorry about the ad, everyone gets it,Google did stop it, once! I've emailed the owners of it a million times, they say it's attached to a counting widdet on my blog, I've changed all my counting widgets, delted others but still it comes back! People can tell me how to get rid of pop ups, but no one knows how to get rid of pop unders..anyway!!! I bought an E, in wood...thinking to make something for daughter Emma, but seeing she's now geting crafty too, I gave it to her 'naked' ! I got round nearly everyone last week, except a few who just didn't open for me...must've known who it was! have a good day...

Wow, it is hot..presumably humid too - that's the killer for me, I can take most amount of dry heat, but am wrecked by the humidity. Is it cooler in your basement? The Dunnit boy is in the middle (literally, since we've had a week off) of making his third rocking horse; I was going to blog about it anyway, but will stop thinking about it and show you! I like the Big E - is it unadorned on purpose or because it's waiting?

ReplyDeleteHate that darn heat index, haven't been looking at ours (in Michigan), don't want to know!! We've been a little bit cooler thankfully, just below 90F, but it's going to climb up again tomorrow and the weekend. 450 rocking horses, wow, that's quite a collection! How did it start?

UGH!! I know it's so hot here in MN too! Our heat index is 103 degrees F at 2:30pm and I'm sure it will continue to climb. They are predicting severe storms and tornadoes later this afternoon and evening. I don't love those but at least it will break the oppressive humidity.

ReplyDeleteYes, those hands are knobs. They came with the cabinet. You could choose this. 1. You take the cabinets as the one that are on the blue one, with a little piece missing so you can pull them out or turn them and use it with those hands.

Yikes that IS really hot, we had close to those temps last week and now it's a bit better, still muggy with lots of thunder storms...we really needed the rain! The heat really takes the starch out of me!

ReplyDeleteIt's SO funny that you collect re-inkers but aren't a 'stamper'. I'm not much of a stamper either, but I do collect stamps, ink pads and re-inkers. I recently inherited old, vintage, ancient Adirondack pads from Traci Miser's stash. Traci was a gifted artist who passed away in Sep 2009. Although we never met, she's inspired me and my hope is to create beautiful works in her honor.
Where do you buy your Staz-on reinkers and pads. Do you get them online?
