It's Friday, which means it's time to join Friday Smiles, hosted by Annie (at A Stitch in Time). Let's visit Annie and the other wonderful ladies who also share their smiles each Friday. Sadly, I have nothing else to share this week except my garden.
I showed this last week and didn't remember where I originally stood when I took the photo.
Fast forward to Wednesday of this week and you can see how everything has gotten bigger. Basil is ready for a haircut, borage is doing OK after I replanted what was left of it after a critter dug it up, nibbled on it, then left it for dead on the tarp, and cilantro which will soon have a few new babies in the form of coriander seeds. 
Everything is growing at an incredible rate, including the sage and the peppermint.
After I deadheaded the dead flowers on my Bee Balm on Monday,
another flower popped out on Wednesday!
Not doing well, dead in fact, is my dill. The caterpillars have stripped the dill and gotten fatter than fat. I just hope after they turn into monarchs, they will remember to stick around a few days so I can enjoy them as they enjoyed the dill I planted.
On the other hand, I have a pot of nearly untouched dill ready to be harvested.

ReplyDeleteYour herbs look so healthy! We also lost a dill plant this year, though had good luck other years. It wasn't eaten, it just withered away. And the plant stores don't have any more. What do you cook with all your harvests?

Hi Elizabeth it's great to see how well your plants are doing. I am going to have to plant something new this week as the salad plants had gone to seed and were getting to tough to eat but I'll find something soon I'm sure. ReplyDeleteYour herbs are doing really well....I just wish I knew what to do with it all once it grows. We lost our chives this year to the black fly so need to grow more.

The plants are looking good except that one pot of dill. Sadly monarchs only feed on milkweed, so whatever those caterpillars are, they aren't monarchs. I know you've had warm temperatures and that makes me wonder (not by the condition of your plants) what are the top temperatures for herbs to grow. I know the low (varies by plants), but not the high. I'm sure I could look it up. Have a great FRiday night and start to your weekend. hugs-Erika
