I'm still having trouble leaving comments on some blogs. I keep getting "Failed to Publish." If you don't hear from me right away (and sometimes never), that is why!! It is mainly on blogs with embedded comments and less so on those with pop-up comments. It is very frustrating.
Here in the states and in Canada, we set our clocks to Daylight Savings Time today. That means we get less sleep time, but have more time in the evening to play outside (some of us in the snow!).
It's time once again to join Sami at Sami's Colourful World and her Monday Murals. Even though it's still Sunday in my world, please be aware that Sami's mural link goes live at 11:01 a.m. my time today.
I was told about this mural and went looking for it for C.J. and myself. I hunted far and wide. I was even told where to go. However, when I got there, this mural was no more. It was extant. The artists who created it were Kaitlyn Wall and Corbie Leiker. It had been at 2202 East Douglas in Wichita, Kansas (USA). It was aptly named Tardis. It was only around in 2016, that is why I was unable to find it.
If you are a fan of Dr. Who, you will recognize the Tardis. If you are not, you probably don't or won't get this mural. In the background is our "Keeper of the Plains" and our city flag with its signature hogan. To me, this would have been one of the finest murals in our city. Why it was painted over is beyond me.
I am not even aware of Dr. Who, but that doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the mural. It is bright, colourful and very attractive.
ReplyDeleteBefore I even read your post I thought "Dr. Who is visiting Kansas. CJ will love this one. I haven't kept up with new series for the last year, but the hubby and I have been watching for since the 1980's when our local PBS station used to play the original series and all their doctors every Saturday afternoon. WE used to use the VS and record them when we weren't around.Now that's taking me back. This is a fun mural, and I am guessing that might even be an actual door on the police box. ReplyDeleteReally neat mural — too bad it was destroyed. But the impermanence of murals and street art somehow seems to be part of their appeal: they aren’t going to be present forever!
ReplyDeleteI saw a tardis in the parking lot of a barbecue place near Austin, Texas. It was a real British police box for no reason except to be a tardis.

ReplyDeleteWhile on holidays I'm visiting and commenting via my mobile (cell) phone, and with some blogs I can't leave a comment, with others I appear as anonymous and asks me to sign in to google, and with others it recognises me! All very baffling...
A classic blue police box - there are still several of these on the streets of Glasgow, where I was last weekend. Many have secondary uses now, such as selling coffee and snacks.
