Second on the 2nd: Sunfeathers and Sunflower

If you came to visit T this Tuesday, you will find it at the previous post.  This is my Second on the 2nd post, which is different from my T Tuesday post this month.  If your T Tuesday post and your Second on the 2nd post are the same, please include it both places.

This month I am honoring Sheila's Single Flower theme since she's hosting Art Journal Journey this month.

I have two examples, one of which I obviously shared as a second look in the past.

I called this art quiltlet "Sunfeathers."  If you want to see how I made it, you can go here.

The second piece I want to share is from a six player swap in November, 2010.

My friend Marlynn's theme was sunflowers, and this was my interpretation of one of the pages I created.  I used three shades of Twinkling H20s and magazine images to create the petals.  Finally, I outlined the petals using colored pencils.  The background, created on a page of vintage sheet music, was also colored using Twinkling H2Os.

Now it's time to share your own Second on the 2nd.  The rules are quite simple and everyone is welcome to join the fun look back.  All you have to do is bring back a post that you are especially proud of, or perhaps one you shared before anyone knew your blog existed.  Any post, any genre, any artistic endeavor is acceptable.  Then link below (direct links only, please) and Bleubeard and I, along with other Second on the 2nd friends, will be by to visit.  Please be aware this link is only open for five days, so linking on the 2nd is preferred.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  4. Sun feathers is a clever interpretation and the sunflower with its musical background is so pretty.

  5. Lovely! I connect with the word “quiltlet”. I never heard that before. It’s the only kind of quilt I will ever make again, if I even do that much sewing!

  6. "...All things bright and beautiful..." - what lovely artworks. The quiltlet is amazing (I especially love the buttons in the sunflower center) and your sunflower paper collage is gorgeous. I love how the petals seem to glow with that yellow outlining.

  9. I love seeing and reseeing these 2 sunflower pages. I remember the first one and the feathers. It was a great page then and is now also. Both pages are so sunny with those warm colors. I love them. Hope march is going well for you so far. Hugs-Erika
