Today we welcome a new host at Art Journal Journey. It is a first time host, and my internet friend Sheila, who many of you know as Orange Esmeralda. Her theme this month is A Single Flower.
I created the background in my watercolor journal by swiping green watercolor on the page. I was going for the mottled look so it didn't compete with the focal flower. I cut the focal flower petals, leaves, and stem from various pages in an old song book. Even the title was written on part of one of the pages. For the flower petals, leaves, and stem, I got out my Twinkling H2Os and went to town laying down bits of color on several song book pages. When dry, I cut them and adhered them to the page using a glue stick. I wrote the title using two metallic gel pens, then added the date stamp.
Thank you ever so much for
visiting today. Sheila, Chris, Erika, Valerie, Yvonne, Bleubeard, and I
are delighted you joined us and hope to see you this month at Art Journal Journey with your own take on A Single Flower.
We
welcome art journal pages that meet the size requirements, altered book
pages, canvases, loose or stand alone pages, fabric pages, and digital art. We do
not allow cards, tags, index cards, ATCs, or ATCoins, and as much as we don't want to, will be forced to delete your entry.

How very, very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous post, colours are stunning. xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful flower! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteOh Elizabeth, I like this a lot. Even before I saw the title I could see that the flower is singing. You've given it a lovely set of colours and they look great on the music paper. A while ago, when I was struggling with a drawing, an art tutor said that a drawing did not have to be made with a pencil, it could be made with colour, scissors and collage and your Single Flower is the perfect example of that.
ReplyDeletePretty flower, lovely colours and I like the use of the music sheets. Always great art Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteLove your song flower - what a fab idea! Great colors and feeling to this page. Inspires me. Hugz
ReplyDeleteSo delightful!
ReplyDeleteA single flower would be most welcome here — in Michigan spring won’t really start for weeks! My friend in England just sent me photos of a field of daffodils. Spring comes so much earlier there they don’t have just a single flower but masses!

A single flower. So hopeful and perfect for the start of meteorological Spring. Outside, flowers are still buried under snow. Inside, the peace lily has a single, perfect bloom. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI can't decide which is more beautiful, the design or the colors. I think they are both equally gorgeous, actually! Are the Twinkling H2Os illuminated with mica or glitter?
ReplyDeleteThis page is amazing Elizabeth. You did a fabulous job making the flower. I wouldn't have thought of that. And I like it too. Happy March! See you later for T. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteCould you please link me again today? Thanks!Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteLove this! And perfect for the first day of meteorological spring :)
ReplyDeleteI love this! And wouldn't it make a beautiful quilt pattern?
ReplyDeleteYOU take special care, dear Elizabeth.
Oh My Elizabeth! This is absolutely stunning, those colours, the shimmer from the Twinkling H2Os and the music paper make this my favourite of the year so far!! Big hugs, Chrisxx

Your flower for the new AJJ theme looks gorgeous, I love how you used the music sheet to cut the petals and the shimmer effects look lovely.

What a lovely idea to choose each petal to be different to the one adjacent to it. A very striking flower - and certainly fits the theme of a single flower.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet xxx
ps hope You, Bleubeard and Squiggles are keeping ok now
Oh, Songflower is a pure delight! I laughed when I saw the size of the flower and the size of the pot! Too fun. Making your flower from songbook pages is a great idea. The colors are magnificent. I have an old songbook. This is greatly inspiring!
