Monday Murals: The Anchor

It's time once again to join Sami at Sami's Colourful World and her Monday Murals.  Even though it's still Sunday in my world, please be aware that Sami's mural link goes live at 10:01 a.m. my time today.

This mural seems to imply there are four seasons represented.

The day I took these photos,

it was freezing outside.

It was as cold as the icy water cascading over the rocks.

The anchor in the water was unmistakable, though.

This mural was painted by Thomas Murillo and is located on the side of

The Anchor, a drinking establishment located at 1109 E. Douglas in Wichita, Kansas (USA).

If you enjoy murals from around the world, please don't forget to visit Monday Murals at Sami's Colourful World.  You will be pleasantly surprised and amazed at what you will find if you open your eyes.

  2. Very interesting mural, so many great details. Have a great day, keep warm. We had snow here, too, but not that much. Hugs, Valerie

  3. Including the neon sign on the building is a great addition to your mural post. I wish everyone would expand the context of murals that they photograph!

  4. I am amazed at how many murals are within your travel distance! It’s a colorful area. Unrelated, thx for your comment on my blog. I learned that deer shed antlers, who knew?! Thus, one antler at times.

  7. That neon sign is cool. It makes me wonder if the Anchor is a bar or more of an upscalish type of place since they serve both coffee and liquor. I see geology here in this mural, ending with the modern slot canyon. Sorry to see it in such a geeky way. I got really excited to see the now extinct creatures from days millions of years ago on the seabed. The beauty is you can explain these murals any way that works for you. Thanks for sharing this one Elizabeth! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  8. Another cool mural. I didn't see 4 seasons, but the 4 elements: earth, air, fire, water. And a cool name for a bar,

  9. ...I like it, but Kansas doesn't seem like the place for this theme. Is my knowledge of geography failing me? Thanks for sharing.

  11. This colourful mural is very attractive with a multitude of details and very original patterns. but I have a special fondness for this little mermaid on her anchor, even if in kansas, the tide is really low :-)
