The meaning of love

Today I'm once again joining Tracey of Hotchpotch Creations our host this month at Art Journal Journey with her theme What is the meaning of

With Christmas just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to explore the meaning of LOVE.

We have to ask ourselves what does love mean to each of us.

This fortune from a fortune cookie tells us

it is the glue that holds everything together.

I, on the other hand,

prefer the dictionary definition(s).

I have chosen three, all nouns:
a profoundly tender, passionate
affection for another person.
a feeling of warm personal
attachment or deep affection, as
for a parent, child, or friend.
sexual passion or desire.
I think this covers just about every feeling that most of us associate with love.

I took this photo so you could see the texture I created on the page before I added the heart.

For this page, I started with 110 lb cardstock I swiped blue and white waves on the page.  Over that I laid down water in the shape of a heart.  Then I colored the heart with deep red watercolors.    Finally, I added the fortune and the computer generated and colored definition.

Thanks so very much for visiting Bleubeard and me today, and we would love to also see you at Art Journal Journey with your own take on The Meaning Of.

  10. That's a profound question. It could have many answers -- as many as there are lovers!

    I like Shakespeare's sonnet:
"Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove."

  11. You don't need to publish this comment but I wanted to thank you for the links. I just got a chance to look though and read the links. Lindsborg sounds interesting. I hadn't heard of it before. It seems like it is very proud of its Swedish Heritage. And those horses are a bit pricey, aren't they? Thanks again!

  18. Lots of love to you Elizabeth! With the continuing restrictions I think some folk are becoming resentful and forgetting that we all need some love in whatever form not just bad feelings being released! This is a lovely page - I love the shade of red you have used! Hugs, Chrisx
