Snow day

It may be spring in my heart, but it's definitely white outside.

This was just the first wave.  Eventually, it snowed all day, but after I took these first photos,

it was so cold, I forgot to return and check on the new snow.   You might be able to see how white it is, and also how many drifts there were.  I hadn't realized how bad it looked until I decided the front glass had fogged over.

That's when I got a rag and tried to keep the difference between the barely warm house and the bitterly cold outside from fogging again until I could get one final photo.  When I took this, the surface temperature was 5 degrees F and the wind chill was -7 degrees F.    I sincerely hope it's warmer where you are.

BTW, in case you were unaware, Liberal, KS won the pancake flipping race again this year over Olney, England.  Bragging rights are intact.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I may actually take a few more shots of the latest snow before it begins to melt.  At least we are supposed to be above freezing today for the first time in five days.

EDIT: Be sure to stop by the Free Kibble site today (shown on my right side bar).  Two questions, right or wrong, provide much needed kibble to both cats and dogs.  You can also donate free litter, too. Today is double scoop day, so please don't pass up the opportunity, whether you leave me a comment or not.

  2. It looks very cold indeed - stay home if you can, and keep warm. It's a bit stormy here, but not cold. Valerie

  3. It's unseasonably cold where I am in CT, but not as bad as you there in KS. I'm assuming the same storm that dropped snow on you swung by my area and dropped snow on me. Everything is now frozen, so the snow is like cement (because it was a heavy wet snowfall to begin with). I'm glad the bragging rights are intact for the pancake flipping race. (And I went to the free kibble site, and answered the two questions.)

  7. Hope you're keeping warm with all that snow outside Elizabeth! Interesting that you mentioned Olney, I've been to that beautiful little village. There used to be a lovely craft shop there, where I took some classes.
    Have a good week,

  10. The view looks pretty much the same from my front door. Bitter cold temps here for the rest of the week. It's supposed to get above freezing by the weekend and the Equinox just a couple of weeks away! Just wait until I get my hands on that rodent, Phil. Enjoy the warm for me!

  13. OOhh Elizabeth !! It´s so lovely to see the snow and touch it, Yes, unfortunately here, we can get this opportunity, almost if we go to Sierra Nevada in Granada, there´s snow at the top of the mountain, my son went twice this year. But, for sure, it´s better you stay at home, and I hope Spring will arrive soon. Here today it´s windy and cloudy too, but I´m afraid it will not rain, so, please be free to send us rain or snow :)
I wish you a nice afternoon, and send big hugs.

  14. Yikes!!!!! This is not a sight I ever see here in San Francisco (but there is A LOT of snow in Tahoe this year). Looks like the kind of weather to stay inside and drink tea or hot chocolate and make things! Stay warm and cozy.

  17. Lovely to see the snow as we still haven't had any and it has even been good enough weather for gardening which is far too early. It says it is 7 outside here just now but it has been raining cats (sorry Bleubeard and Squiggles) and dogs here all day so it is not freezing cold and the very strong winds have gone off somewhere else.
    Love from Sheila

  19. I'm ready for spring, too. We aren't getting snow, but we're getting lots of rain (and some of it windy and cold rain, which is playing havoc with my taking walks). Still, we need the rain here in California. I'm hoping it means we won't have terrible fires this summer like we did last year.

  20. Our son lives in Chicago where the wind off Lake Michigan makes everything that much colder.

Your photos almost makes snow beautiful.

  21. OK, comment times 2. Boy, it sure looks cold and wintery there. Worse than we had, although it is sure cold today. I clicked to donate my dog food, cat food and litter too. Hope it was a great Wednesday. Hugs-Erika

  23. Too bad there was no way you could ship the white stuff here, because I really adore snow. NC considered a really cold day earlier this week a whopping 40 degrees(lol) This weekend we'll get into the 60's and 70's! I hope he weather warms up soon where you are, and thanks so much for the great pics! Congrats on that amazing win by the way! Hugs...RO
