T Stands For Superbowl

Today you find me once again at my dining room table, getting ready for the Superbowl ads.  Many of you who know me, or have been around my blog for several years, know I normally host a Superbowl party at my place each Superbowl Sunday.  To be honest, I was tired (still am as I write this post Tuesday MONDAY afternoon) and not in the mood to host even my most dear friends.

I wasn't happy with the teams who were playing and I wasn't happy with how they both got to the Superest of bowls.  I wasn't feeling like playing host because I was still not over the events of the previous week.  I had NO idea how it would affect my sleep patterns, my internet visits, my grumpy attitude, and my overall health.

But that was Sunday, and I am marginally better.  I know several of you are suffering from genuine illnesses, so I am NOT going to complain.  Instead, I'm going to throw my own party which just happened to land on Superbowl Sunday.

The Superbowl is so iconic.  If you've ever seen the commercials, you know lots of name brands are touted.  However, Coca Cola is not one of them. Nor is my drink of choice V-8, although Budweiser and Pepsi come to mind as sponsors.

If I were a true Superbowl affectionado, I would be serving myself Doritos, instead of these wonderful buttery clubhouse crackers.  I don't often "cook," but for Sunday's fare, I mixed up two different avocado dips, one rather spicy, one bland.  The one in the back is spicy.  I also made my own version of seven layer dip, which included beans, cheese, green onions, tomatoes, and black olives.  Guess I'll have to call it five layer dip.

Next, I was off to open my V-8, which I poured in my green Coke glass.  The red inside the green glass was a bit garish, so I decided not to show it, for fear you would turn away in disgust.

After my Superbowl meal and after the game, it was time for some tea.  Although I'm not a fan of camomile tea, I decided it might help relax me.  Besides, it was a gift from Mia.  While I waited for the water to heat, I decided to show this adorable gift my friend RO sent me.  She told me it was supposed to be "Cat person," but they sent the wrong mug.

Regardless, it's so cute and

I know all you dog lovers will appreciate the design

as I turn the cup around.

I'm fairly sure the water was ready at that point, so I'll turn this tale (or tail) of my Superbowl Sunday over to you.  I'm convinced you will share something interesting that will put me in a good mood, too.

I'm sure by now you know the drill.  It's time to share your own drink related post.  It can be photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year.

  3. I just looked up who owns V8 and was surprised to learn it's owned by Campbell's Soup. I'm not a fan of tomato juice, but Himself likes it. You made yourself a tasty snack. I like the Clubhouse crackers just plain. The dog mug is cute (for dogs =^,.^=) I hope the chamomile tea did the trick and you got to relax and get some rest. Happy T Day. Take care.

  4. You have every right to feel tired out after the things that took over your life these past couple of weeks. It takes time to recover, so take care of yourself.
I think your food looked delicious, it looks very tasty, I'm thinking of those crackers and dips, good job its to late in the day for me to eat.
I love the mug with the dogs, its adorable and I hope the chamomile tea helped you get a good rest.
    Happy T day wishes
    Yvonne xx

  5. I got several good laughs while reading your post, especially the "turn away in disgust" line. My post this week is also Super Bowl oriented. Hopefully it cheers you up a little. I tried to put a little humor in mine this week, but I'm not good at that stuff the way a lot of the T-Day ladies are. Happy T-Day!

  6. I think overall the superbowl was disappointing to my family as well. I don't follow football but my hubby and sons do. We hosted a large superbowl party last evening but I didn't step foot out of the kitchen so I didn't even get to see the ads like I usually do. Your food looks delicious! Even if the game was a failure it looks like the food sure wasn't. So glad that you were still up for hosting T day.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  7. I fully understand you are feeling so tired after all you've been through. It is a delayed reaction, but don't worry, you will be fine.
So you had your own little bowl party! The food looks lovely but I'll pass on that drink. I have tasted it before and it is rather sweet.
I smiled at the gift for the cat person. Oh well, this one is sweet too.
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca

  8. Our super bowl was super quiet, just Bob and I, and I had a killer headache, but managed to watch the game anyway. I don't think we even had game day munchies....just what ever was at hand.
Now, I adore your mug......being a k-nine lover, even though it has been three years since we put my baby to sleep.
    Anyway....Happy T-day

  9. I'm a dog lover. So yes, I love your cup from Mia, Elizabeth. Your 5-layer dip looks delicious. Who needs seven anyway? It takes a while to recover from trauma like you recently went through. Keeping you in my thoughts because I expect it isn't over yet.

Happy T-day. I'm so glad you made it. Big hugs, Eileen

  10. No surprise that you are still so tired and trying to recuperate. You still managed to make a wonderful dish to munch on during the game! Too bad for you about the mug but of course, I love dogs:) Wonder how you liked the chamomile as that is my tea choice for relaxation. Rest well, and happy T day!

  11. It is a super cute mug. I bet the cat person one would have been adorable too. I think the commercials in the super bowl weren't all that great this year, with a few exceptions. And sometimes a nice cup of chamomile tea is just the right thing. Did it work as you hoped? Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  13. You had a busy week...time for rest. I'm not a fan of chamomile tea either...tastes like perfume and flowers. And yes I know they are flowers but...eww.
    Happy T day!

  14. I have watched The Big Game -note how I'm avoiding use of the precious magical words so the trademark/copyright police don't come after me ;) - but only rarely and not this year. Your snacks look great, though. I love avocado dip!

  15. I love the mug, even though it's dogs. I didn't watch the game -- I went to my fave Brit night on PBS and supplemented it with a couple of netflix episodes. Football -- I just don't get the point!

  21. Wishing you well and I hope you are feeling more like your normal self again soon! Your superbowl snacks look so fresh and delicious, I could eat the lot ...lol 😉. I've never tried V8 so it would be fun to try it too 😀. The Superbowl this year was pretty uneventful wasn't it, we watched it with some homebrewed beer, pretzels and cheesy snacks such helped ...lol! Take care and wishing you a happy T Day! J 😊 x

  22. I totally understand your feeling about this past Bowl game day. The past week or two has been rough here too but for different reasons. We got ribs and sides from the local take out rib joint and DH and I settled down to watch the game. Yawn! Hope you are feeling like your regular creative self soon.

  24. They usually show a couple of the adverts on tv here in Australia, but this year I didn't see any.
You did well having a party for yourself Elizabeth.
Hope the tea helped you relax, you've been very brave and need to take your time to recover.

  25. Your food looks so yummy!!! I love avocado dip!!! We don't watch any sports at all so my Sunday was a SUPER SOW Sunday. I planted more milkweed seeds and flower seeds using the Winter Sown method. :)

  27. After the impromptu traveling, packing and hanging out in all that cold weather, I'm not one bit surprised that you're still exhausted. Then to play catch up sure isn't easy either. But you did a magnificent deed that is truly appreciated. I hope you can get back to normal soon. This is when I'm reminded that we need to exchange numbers because I could go on and on about your yummy dip that I want to eat up right now.(lol) Love, love spicy foods and treats. Even though our teams weren't playing, I have to admit that I was impressed with the defense, of course causing this game to make it into the history books for low scoring. It also gave Brady another HUGE ring to add to his massive collection. I saw the difference in the sizes of the rings over the years and it looks like they were once a normal size.(lol) How in the world they even fit on anyone's finger is a mystery to me. Half time - As a one time singer, I love my music, and listen to Adam Levine and Maroon Five all the time. he and the group are so talented, but Sharon Osbourne said it best. A forum such as the Superbowl was too big for them, and it was hard to keep the attention of the crowd even as good as they are. They just didn't have the star power of Lady Gaga, Prince, Madonna, or Beyonce. I appreciated his performance, but taking off his shirt didn't do it.(lol) Big Boi, who I also like, looked sort of crazy wearing the fur coat, particularly since he was from Atlanta, and Peta sure was upset! I also felt like he was lip syncing. Travis, thank you for your performance, but we could have done without the cursing, please. For Pete's sake, your daughter Stormi was watching along with mom Kendall Jenner! I loved seeing the trophy being carried by Joe Namath and Emmitt Smith. That was a historic moment, which leads me to loving the 100 anniversary commercial with so many greats. Whoever was able to get all those football stars together for that commercial was brilliant, and I've actually watched it about 8 or 9 times(lol) Here's hoping that Dallas makes it next year for me, and the Chiefs make it back next year for you. That kid Mahomes is quite phenomenal, and I can't wait to see his career unfold. By the way, he owns a beautiful gray pit bull. So sorry about that dang mug. I'm working on trying to get the right one, but with the headache I've had, I can't guarantee anything right now.(lol) Fingers crossed. Get some rest, and I'm sending some hugs your way. RO

  28. P.S. My surgery went well :) I had to have a general anesthesia for this, and lengthy recovery from that is the norm for me probably because I'm so small. This time I recovered quickly. I go back for a re-check in a couple of weeks to make sure it's healing ok and to get the lab results back. Hoorah!
