Eat your veggies

By now I'm sure you know the handsome and lovable Bleubeard and I are hosting Art Journal Journey this month.  My theme is count your blessings.

I am so blessed to be able to buy any food I want.  That's why I decided to create this journal page that focuses on art depicting fruits and veggies.

I have no idea what this is, but I suspect it could be stuffed olives.  I just liked the image, so I used it.

I think everyone can tell this is watermelon, although the lighting in my dining room is quite harsh.

I fell in love with this painting.  Don't ask why, but I guess because it is so abstract and realistic at the same time.

I was so happy with those root veggies, that's when I chose to name this journal page Eat your veggies,

even though everything else, like this pineapple

and these cherries, were fruit.

Materials for this journal page include two colors of handmade shimmering mists painted on a white substrate, five fruit and veggie images found in a couple of magazines, and use of the Dymo Label Maker to create the sentiment.

Bleubeard and I are thrilled you chose to spend some time with us today and hope to see you at Art Journal Journey, too.

  2. This would be the choice of my Daughter with her being a vegetarian. You've managed to find some fabulous images Elizabeth. I especially love that painted one too. We are so blessed to have the choice we do.. Food itself is a blessing and one we take for granted so easily.
Sorry my visits of late have been random but it has been one of those weeks for me and looking like the rest of the month will be just the same!!
Wishing you a super weekend, Hugs Tracey xx

  5. Bright colors and a happy page. Though I have to nag Himself and The Young One to eat veggies other than corn, peas, carrots, and green beans.

  8. Your page could be my week. I have been stuffing my face with cherries, watermelon and even some zucchini from my garden. Thinking it is time to pull my beets out of the ground. This is a great page for sure. It is perfect for your challenge and perfect for summer too. And making me hungry too. Happy Friday. Hugs-Erika

  10. I love being able to buy fruits and veggies year 'round. Even though winter tomatoes don't taste as good as local in-season produce, I eat them anyway. And there are blueberries and bananas and other foods I'd never be able to have if I couldn't wander into my huge grocery store and choose what I wanted. A blessing indeed! :)

  13. Lovely pictures of the fruit and vegetables. The one you thought looked like olives made me thing of the tiny peeper we can buy here stiffed with balls of soft Italian cheese. I gues they will be on my shopping list when I next go to the supermarket.
It is a fantastic page Elizabeth and yes we are blessed to be able to go and buy these items. It does make me think of those who are not fortunate and are unable to do this, there is so much poverty these days.

  15. It's a fantastique page Elizabeth! I love the beautiful background you've created, it's wonderful, and the fruits and vegetables are my forte, I love them, and I also think they are the healthiest for us. Now we especially enjoy nectarines, which make me crazy, and watermelons and melons, we have many here. The grapes, carrots, zucchini, lettuce ... I also like them a lot. It is beautiful how you have decorated the fruits and vegetables, it is a very original art page. Great !!
I wish you a very nice day, big hugs, Caty
