Today I'm joining Wendy who is hosting Tag Tuesday this fortnight with her theme Paris. Those of you who are long term visitors to my blog might remember that I have admired Wendy's art since I met her through the two Craft Barn Challenges I played in.
I was inspired by my friend Valerie, who used these two iconic Parisian images on her blog.
I mixed two pigment ink colors to create these stamped images.
For the background, I added a French ledger from my files that I covered with gesso to tone it down.
After I sewed the image to the tag,
I added the lace (colored with dye ink), which reminded me of stitchingI'm sure you noticed the stitching, which means I can also join Try it on Tuesday with their theme Stitch It (real or faux).
Of course, I also wanted to join Yvonne of Meggy's Way who is hosting Art Journal Journey this month with her chosen theme of Colo(u)r in my World.
For Yvonne's theme, I've created a page for my scrappy journal. I added the tag to the right side of the page. Even though there are a lot of colors in the tag, I think you'll agree that this is a rather pink day!
It's too bad I only have black ink in my two printers,
so the Paris inspired art and words had to be created in black.
For this piece, I started with a sheet of pale pink copier/printer paper, then added the printed words and image using variegated thread to the left side. I also added black card stock. For the right side, I added the tag I made. Thanks for joining me today as I visit
Tag Tuesday,
Try it on Tuesday,
and
Art Journal Journey.
I hope you'll join me there, too!

Glad you are in the pink today, with you lovely journal page and the gorgeous tag you made for Tag Tuesday, thanks a lot. The lace at the bottom is a lovely touch. Not feeling good here, so will be heading back to bed soon. Thanks for linking to TT and TIOT, hugs, Valerie

Nice tag and Paris spread. You have been into pink lately. That's the funny thing about pink. You either love it or don't love it, but even if you don't love it (like me), sometimes you just have to use it. I get in those pink phases too. But anyhow, I really think you did a fantastic job and it feels so French. :) Hope Monday is a good day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI love your journal page and the tag, both are really pretty.
ReplyDeleteOh Yes! This is true French chic Elizabeth! Your stitching once again lifts this to another level - I adore this! Thanks again for joining us at Try It On Tuesday! See you in Paris! Hugs,Chrisx
ReplyDeleteYou did Paris justice. Great pieces and amazing that you fit them into so many challenges. I always like your stitching.
ReplyDeleteoh wow I love these
ReplyDeleteOh la la, It is a beautiful tag Elizabeth. It was lovely to see you use 'pink' as a colour choice today, it added to the romance of the journal pages you created.
ReplyDeleteThank you for adding these fantastic pages to TioT's and of course to Art Journal Journey.

I loved both pieces. Very Parisian:)
ReplyDeleteThat Val always comes up with something creative doesn't she?
So far, good here. Refresh me, are you north?
Your artistic skills are pretty dang amazing. I need to fly you here to help work on my Planner! I love artsy peeps! Hugs and Happy Monday! RO
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beautiful piece with us at TIOT this time. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSo if you only have black printer ink, print on pink paper. A typical Elizabeth do-it-yourself solution and one of the reasons I love coming here. Dyeing the lace with dye ink, that's another first. Always good to see your stitching too.
ReplyDeleteOh you know how much I love your tag and journal spread-so soft and romantic-and after all, it's PARIS!
ReplyDeleteI love it when your swaps pick a theme that really resonates with me -- and this one does big time! Love Paris and love your piece!
ReplyDeleteWonderful Project. Thank you for joining us at TioT.
ReplyDeletePerfect pieces for both challenges. Your inky bits are grand. xox
ReplyDeleteOohLaLa,,,,tres bien... Paris is always on my mind and I am going soon -- working on my travel journal now.
ReplyDeleteLovely Paris tag and page. I would love to go back - the four days I spent there in 2014 were not enough. Such a gorgeous city.
