I'm once again joining my dear friend Yvonne of Meggy's Way who is hosting Art Journal Journey this month with her chosen theme of Colo(u)r in my World. I'm also joining Try it on Tuesday with their theme Stitch It (real or faux).
I took time yesterday to watch the impending storm that has now impacted the Bahamas and the Florida Keys. I was so impressed with the weather graphics, I wanted to make something similar. 
To show I am paying homage to all those affected by Irma, I decided to sew the name of the hurricane to the page. 
I have no feed dogs that drop, so this was all done free hand. 
This is how I envisioned the storm 
in color graphic form as it heads to Florida. 
I realized there would be lots of destruction with this storm, so I tried to mess up the paper a bit before I did any sewing.
Materials used include heavy card stock, a piece of copier paper (sewed word on), lots of paint, watercolor crayons, and variegated thread. These are the colors of my world today.Thanks for joining me today as I once again visit

ReplyDeleteGreat piece! FYI - You can cover your feed dogs with a piece of plastic (or cardstock) with a hole punched for the needle.

ReplyDeletewe have a friend that lives in the Keys that left to stay with a friend-his home flooded so now they moved to where his summer mobile home is-he said the worse thing is that everything is closed up even wal mart and no gas
The real Irma is bad but your so-colourful Irma is stunningly beautiful. With these colours the painting looks alive and your Irma is ready to spread goodness and light.
