Today I'm attempting something a bit different for Art Journal Journey's Summertime Love. I decided to try my luck at abstract. I added the sentiment I hoped would convey why people like to spend time in their boats during summer months. 
I added the doily behind the boat so there would be some interest. 
I really tried to make it look like there was a mooring and a sailboat just leaving the dock.
You may have to use your imagination, though. As I've mentioned on numerous occasions, I'm not a painter, although I seem to do better with abstract than reality. 
For the background, I started by spritzing several of my handmade shimmering mists on heavy card stock. Once dry, I added the doily, the painting, and computer generated text.

It is for our beloved friend Squiggles. All Bleubeard's friends got together to wish Squiggles a very happy third birthday. Does this mean you have finally left the terrible twos behind, dear Squiggles? Somehow Bleubeard and I doubt it.

I think your page captures the tranquility of being on the water. The beautiful blue of the sky. The doily makes me think of gentle breezes.

So that on the water page is great. Its like sailing at sunset (and during the summer it would be easy to sail into the sunset). And I think your birthday card for Squiggles is great. It made me smile. Hope he had a good day with maybe a little catnip or some tuna or other kitty treat. Hugs--Erika
