Let's head to Iceland

It's time I get serious about joining Yvonne from Meggy's Way, this month's host at Art Journal Journey, whose theme is Out and About.

There are times when we are inspired by blogging friends, and this is one of those times.  Now I admit, the tiny island Iceland wasn't even on my radar until my art friend Erika at BioArtGal went there last year with some of her friends.  Recently, mostly prompted by Yvonne's theme, I started looking for images from Iceland in the various travel magazines I receive free each week.

We're beginning our trip to Iceland by flying into Reykjavik. It is the capital and largest city in Iceland.

It is located in the southwestern part of the island.

As the plane gets closer,  we see it's not a very big city, with only about 130,00 residents, even though it's the larges on the island.

Reykjavik is also the government, cultural, and economic center of Iceland.

It's now time to stow our on-board items, turn off our computers, and prepare to land.

Materials used for this entry include a used file folder I colored with a paint marker, two images from two travel magazines, washi tape, and computer generated text.

Now let's head to Art Journal Journey and see where everyone is heading today.  And thanks for joining me on this journey to Reykjavik, Iceland today, too.  Your visit always makes me smile.

  2. It looks like a spectacular place to visit Elizabeth and you have shown it off so well. Not been there myself but a friend of mine went and said it was quite warm there and I had thought it would be freezing cold

    Love Chrissie xx

  3. An amazin page ELizabeth! I wasn't there yet but I guess it is just a wonderful place on earth!
Thank you very much for yet another super entry to Yvonne's AJJ theme!
I wish you a happy Sunday and a good start into the new week ahead!
I am very busy just now - having guests and showing them our area - I fear I will not be able to join the TSFT fun this upcoming week.
I will miss you and the gang!

  5. Hello Elizabeth. What a nice relaxing plane ride over Iceland, and I was all prepared for landing. Your virtual trips are the best trips for me, a not-very-frequent traveller.
Thanks for your great comment on Orange E. this morning, a lovely welcome back to Blogland.
Have a great week. Strokes to Bleubeard and Squiggles. Hope you are all well.

  6. I was excited to see that you headed off to Iceland. :) And just south of the capital is the Blue Lagoon where your photos are from. I could go for a good soak in that nice warm geothermal water right now seeing its a dark and cold Sunday morning here. That would warm me up and probably relax me enough that I could sit on the couch and watch TV all day, which would be betetr than the errands we need to go do again today. Did you know Reyjavik is the most northern capital in the world and Iceland is the European country with the lowest population? Great page-I really enjoyed it and having a chance to relive my vacation last summer for a few minutes this morning. Hope you are having a great weekend. Tomorrow is spring!!!! Hugs-Erika

  7. Iceland. Not a destination that I would pick for Winter. I've had enough of snow, thank you very much. The beautiful colors on your page remind me of the Aurora Borealis. Seeing that is on my bucket list. Bet I'd have a chance of seeing the aurora from Iceland, but let's go in Summer. (-;

  8. Never been there myself but I hear it's a great place to visit. Your scanner quit talking to your computer... My computer just quit talking to my printer. :(

    Have a great Sunday.

  10. This is great Elizabeth. I considered going there when I was in London. But I opted for a few Quick trips to mainland Europe. So many choices!

  12. Walking at the beach last week felt like being in Iceland. A cold wind today too. Luckily the snows missed us today. The steam baths sound like a great idea about now! xox

  14. That looks great!!! Iceland wasn't on my personal radar either but in the past few years a number of artist friends have visited -- there are artist retreats there that look wonderful. Now it is on my radar - but not when the ICE is happening...
