Read

I'm once again joining Erika (AKA BioArtGal) at Art Journal Journey where her theme is "Every journal page tells a story."

I got the idea to create this page after I created this background.  I am so in awe of people who read lots of books each year.  They score high on IQ tests, and they graduate summa cum laude which is the highest honor of their class.

Reading allows us to play, explore, and relax, while often taking us to foreign lands, or magical kingdoms.

Great books can be fiction or non-fiction.  They can focus on history, geography, cooking, or etiquette.

Stacks of books are not dust collectors, but windows to the world.

It's time to pick up a book and read.

These young people have done just that, and are now graduates with a bright future ahead of them.

My friend and our AJJ host for January, Erika, sent me these letters.

One final look at my used file folder that I colored with various art techniques, then added fussy cut books, pictures of graduates from a Mensa magazine, and large dimensional letters.

Still slogging away on my old slower than social enlightenment computer, where nothing talks to it, except my camera.  Thanks for joining me again today.  You are all so good to me, even though I'm so slow on the uptake.

  1. Great page for AJJ, and reading is sooooo important. It was always my fave hobby, from 3 years old when I started reading, and still is. I average about 3 books a week, so much better than housework! Have a great day, hugs,Valerie. I hoe your computer is soon back! Thanks for joining us again at AJJ!

  7. What a hit you created! Love the background and the large lettering across the middle.
Sad to say, but so many younger people really don't know the joys of reading books. I finally got Hannah interested in reading (yipppy) I love a good BOOK, and I mean the kind you have on your journal page, not on a PC, notebook or Kindle........nothing like turning a PAGE to continue.....LOL!

  8. Oh yes Elizabeth, I agree with you that reading books is a great escape from every day life. You can learn new things, visit foreign countries or centuries. Reading books is also very important for me. Your page is very well designed and perfect to your words.
Happy New Year, stay healthy and creative.
    Hugs

  9. I love this: "Stacks of books are not dust collectors, but windows to the world." I love having books around that I haven't read yet. It's a comfort somehow that I won't run out of things to read :)

  11. Lovely page and I too have to agree with you Elizabeth - reading is wonderful and important.
I love reading but go through phases when I might read at least 1 book a week, and others when I will just read magazines.

  12. This is a fantastic page Elizabeth!!!! I have always loved to read and go through books like crazy. I looked up my Kindle record for 2016 and I read over 100 books on it. I know I read a lot of real paper books too so I'm thinking it may be one of my better reading years. Can't wait to you get your new computer into full operation so you can "FLY!"

  15. How good to read about reading. There is always the conflict - make art or read? Love your artwork with the books and the words and the great background.
