King of Autumn

When I first saw this tiger, I thought how much his coloring looked like autumn.  So of course, I immediately thought of Art Journal Journey whose theme this month, hosted by Susi, is autumn colors.  Then I thought how majestic and kingly he looked and decided to create an autumn colored crown for him, which is the theme at Moo-Mania and More this fortnight.

I was inspired by Patty to cut some autumn colored ransom type letters.  Of course, I had to go to my yard and find some autumn leaves that I thought matched my kingly tiger.  I created this spread in one of my altered books, which is slightly larger than my scanner.  So now I give you the King of Autumn.

Please visit Art Journal Journey for more autumn colors (or colours if you don't write American) and Moo-Mania and More for more crowns.  I promise, you'll be inspired.  And of course, this is Day 5 of Art Every Day Month, or AEDM, where I reconnect with artist friends from previous Novembers. Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive of my art so far this month.

  5. Oh, I love him!!! I love fall colors, and lately, even though I'm a dog person, I've been inexplicably drawn to cats, both domestic and wild. Right now I am working on a mountain lion painting! Happy Creating!

  9. That is one magnificent tiger, and you are right, the colouring is very autumn. I googled tigers, wondering where they actually live, and it turns out they are forest animals, some of them in taiga forests, like, you know, here in Sweden! (But, of course, in Asia - thank god...) I will never look at a tiger the same way again! :-)

  11. A fabulous journal spread and a super regal tiger with his crown. Yes the colours of these magnificent big cats do reflect the shades of autumn. Easier for them to be unseen in this season of the year.

  21. Here I am trying to catch up with you Elizabeth.
We had some really nice weather for a bit and I was away from the computer more than usual.
Your King of Autumn is fabulous and aren't you nice to give me a shout out about the ransom letters. They are fun aren't they and work so well in this collage you created! The leaves are a perfect touch too.

  22. I love everything about this Tiger spread--especially his Autumn colored crown and the addition of the leaves.

As you can guess, I've been having a hard time keeping up with everything lately. DD found a new apartment so it will get busier before it slows down again!
