Journal 52, Week 41: Mosaic Inspired

For Week 41 at Journal 52 the prompt is Mosaic Inspired.  While Chelle decided to create a face, I'm not that talented.

So I started with my usual used file folder, and

painted it using an old gift card.

I cut various FREE paint chip samples from the hardware store into 1" (2,54 cm) squares.  I started by making the frame, then the tulip.  I cut two of the squares into triangles, and one long paint chip into three strips of 1/2" (1,27 cm).  After I adhered them and took this photo, I took a wet rag and removed the excess glue.

Bluebeard and I present you with our Week 41 entry, or the Tulip Mosaic.  I hope you like it, because this is the only place you'll see it, since I'm not a member of Facebook or Flickr.

Thanks as always for stopping by, and for your continued comments.  Please don't forget we will visit an underground salt mine beginning tomorrow.

  2. That's just regular paint applied with a regular plastic card (on the background)? It looks like you added a wood grain effect!

  3. Wow, I love this! I have been asked to teach glass mosaics in the new year. This would be a great beginner mosaic pattern!

  4. Brilliant idea Elizabeth. I think this would be an awesome decoration on tiles. Slightly reminiscent of Charles Rennie Mackintosh; I know yours is more angular, but that's what I thought when I saw your tulips :o))
