WOYWW 257: The one where she has actual art on her table

Julia, our beloved host at Stamping Ground likes things short and sweet.  I feel I was a bit long winded last week.

My internet friend Mary Anne is what I consider a genious when it comes to printables.  I, on the other hand, am not.  And dear Julia (and I'm sure a few others) has a stamp she uses for her ATC backs.  I, on the other hand, have never had a stamp like that.

When I first started making ATCs, way back in 2003, I decided to create my own backs.  I used my word processing program (specifically WordPerfect).  I still use that same program and file, although over the years, I've changed the font on occasion.  However, unlike Mary Anne, I can only get 8 on a page, with six oriented vertically and two horizontally.  Eventually, I also changed the word "e-mail" to "blog."

Now if only I could get my guillotine cutter to cut a straight line, I'd be a happy camper.  (Yep, that's a rocking horse photo frame with one of my friend's children taken at a Christmas church event.)

Usual caveat applies.   If coming from Julia's please leave your number.  I might be slow, but I eventually visit.

  1. I think your ATC back method works a treat as I normally end up glueing a piece of paper to the back and then stamping it... you get it done in one glue!! LOL
I know... this moving game has lost its lustre well and truly, I am weary but will be happy to be home, so I am trying to be glass half full!! Send ATC to Scotland... that would be a good bet!!

  5. Well I worked with computers for years and even did my own programming back in the early days so you'd think I could do something like your ATC slips. Nope! For the life of me I do not remember how to set this up. So I'll just print my info on a mail label and call it done. Love the rocker. Maybe I should add an arrow so others will be be able to see the pink stripe. ;) Sleepy hugs from the Girls. p.s. They were napping when I took the T pic yesterday. p.s.2 ...want to swap WOYWW ATCs?

  7. Great way to get the atc backs done if you don't have a stamp. I'd be tempted to pre-print the blog address though.... No number yet, Julia's not up... I on the other hand, schedule my post for midnight uk time!! Helen

  9. I used to have a stamp, but after the stroke, I culled all my ATC stuff - boy, how I regret that!! Nowadays I buy sticker backs as I don't make so many - it's still a challenge to work that small...
    Happy WOYWW :)

  10. Hi there! Hope the vision of spots have faded by now :-)
I used Julia's stamp to create the ATC backs, bless her...otherwise I'd have resorted to doing one in Corel on the computer.
Actually, I saw a triple steam reciprocating engine at the country fair I was at last Sunday, playing with my band! There was a whole display of small static steam engines that folk used 100 years or so ago....I find them fascinating :-)

  11. Awww. You are too kind! I think it is all down to the paper size - A4, standard in the UK is slightly narrower and slightly longer that US letter paper. Because I make things that I put up for others to download and use (wherever they are) I tend to arrange assuming the two narrower measurements. If I'm doing something just for ME, well, that is a whole other story :)

I did consider adding all the info and printing it too, but in the end I opted to write it all by hand

    Silly me

    Happy WOYWW!

  12. Oh for some form of paper cutter that cut straight and accurate. And at a reasonable price!! Love the one my friend has in America but no way can I afford to spend that on a cutter.
Love your atc backs - probably better than stamping them to be honest,, great rocker with the photo.
    Love to you and Bleubeard.

  13. Golly, ATC backs! barely even done any fronts yet - wouldn't EVER have thought of printing off a back.... but if I did I would use serif copy and paste to get lots on a page...
    Have a great week.

  15. Cool! I don't have a stamp for my ATC's information, so I really like the idea of making my own template. Good luck with your project. WOYWW #52

  16. I have an ATC stamp and then I discovered sticky labels and now I print them via a word program and like magic they appear. I can even state how many I want in each column. Truly it is like magic.
    Have a lovely week.

  17. I too have created my own ATC backs. I got tired of hand filling them in so have most of the info typed, I think it's easier. Looking forward to seeing your completed ATC's. Diane #52

  19. Wow, you're going to be really busy with ATCs, if that number of backs is anything to go by, Elizabeth! I haven't even started my fronts yet. A great idea, to use the PC for the backs. MAYBE I'll get round to that today - haha! Have a great week, Chris # 47

  20. Like you, I've one I created and now I have a stamp...But I like the computer...as I fill it in with a new font. Sometimes hard to read the tiny handwritings I think. Short and sweet..I've a long list to finish before company on Mothers Day. Enjoy

  21. It looks like you're planning on making a lot of ATC's... quite ambitious. Having the back completed will make it easier perhaps. Be well Carole #59

  23. I too have my own printable that I created for ATC back, my guillotine has also got straight issues, I think as it is 16 years old, it might be getting a tad worn. #28

  24. Hi Elizabeth Happy WOYWW. Your ATC backs look great...I had to google to find out the sizes and what to put on the back - mine are done but I filled in the blanks on the computer. Cheers and have a great week RobynO#68

  26. I love Word Perfect but my version is from the 1990's. Still works but is hard to save things. Love the rocking horse frame. I hope you get some straight cuts from your guillotine! Happy WOYWW!

  27. Hi Elizabeth and Bleubeard, that's a great idea for the ATC backs especially when you have lots to make.
I have a stamp for this however, I stamped several onto an A4 piece of paper and then scanned it into my computer so I don't have to keep stamping it, they are there ready and waiting when I need them.
    Happy crafting, Angela x 46

  28. Yoda says it is the way you hold your tongue when cutting and if you hold it wrong you will cut crooked. Hey he must know he spends so much time with me. I think some days it works and some it don't LOL I still have to do the ATC's time seems to be escaping me, ha and I rescheduled my week to give me for me/we time too. Say hi to Bluebeard and give him a tickle.

    Happy WOYWW

  29. I'm afraid that I did not put in as much time on the backs of my ATCs as the fronts, although I did print out the info on the PC. I know it is hard to believe I DON'T own the ATC stamp...LOL
Put me on your list to swap with!

I started with a used guillotine cutter, loved that thing it could cut through a brick.......but not straight! I have had a rotary blade one for years (actually 2 of them) I have found that over time they seem to wonder off a bit, or maybe it is the operator (?)

Have a great day, pat Bluebeard for me.
    XOXO Krisha

  30. Hi Elizabeth,
Like you, I don't have one of those stamps that goes on the back of an ATC. It looks like you made your own very well though! Way to go.

Thank you for your visit already!

  33. Oh I am so sorry Elizabeth, I certainly remember being asked about the crop but it must have passed me by replying. No I am not going, not a big traveller and it is quite a way to go. Bit confused as to how the ATCs can be in the hands of the recipient if the SWAP isn't until the end of May and you won't know who you are to swap with until then, or do you mean extras and you've sent them to Julia for those at the crop? Assuming alot here. Not been having a great time with DH and DS lately and have been rather depressed myself with the "hopefully soon" menopausal brain is slowly turning to mush! Glad you like the garden though, the Rhododendron is just beginning to flower so I hope that will be the focus for the June edition. HUGS BJ

  36. Hi Elizabeth
Firstly thanks for telling me about the linky thing..... don't know how that happened.... then I linked again ... twice not sure I was awake this morning.
secondly sorry to have taken so long to reply but when I try to go on your blog on my phone it tells me your site is only open to over 18's and then asks for my credit card details..... Mmm interesting.
Anyway, great job with the ATC backs ... I stamp mine but not very well. are you swapping lots this year? I hope to make about 20, when I finally get around to making some that is .... hopefully in time, so we'll see
    happy Wednesday

  37. I can only get the same number on a sheet as you. I do have a rubber stamp for the backs though. Unfortunately I always seem to forget to stamp BEFORE doing the front...then the stamp never turns out right.

  43. I stamp - with the same stamp (!) because I'm a total dunce at word processing and anything computer related. I kid myself it's because I would rather spend my time crafting than computing...but it's not really that!

  45. Wow, such organisation. Mine will be written on the back, besides mine are not all the same on the front, so why should the back be the same?
Love the rocking horse picture frame, what a lovely idea.
