So today, while WOYWWendy looks on in the background, it's obvious that I'll soon be punching holes in my two art challenge file folder pages so I can add them to the 3-ring binder I have nearly ready to go. Also on my desk is that same baby oil (yes, it's to clean my as-yet-unopened Gelli plate) that appears to not be leaking anymore, now that I've taken Jo's (at JoZart) advice to allow it to leak on paper I want to use in collage fodder.
What would Wednesday be without the rocking horses? These are both so tiny, you get another two-fer.

make this one look like it could be used for Christmas.
The irony of this one is, it was a gift, but my friend told me it broke when she was wrapping it. I was delighted to have it, anyway, and even though it had lost one of its rockers, I found the prize winning place for it.If visiting from Julia's, please leave your number. I'll be by eventually, although I'll be out all day Wednesday. I was able to visit everyone who visited me last week, and a few extras, too. All except one, I might add. The problem is, I couldn't find where to leave comments on one G + account. If anyone knows how to correct that, please let me know. Now let's go snooping again this week.

OK so clearly I am super ditzy. I thought I had read a post in the past about this file folder lark but now can't seem to find it :) Spending WAAAAY too much time sorting out paperwork (going back at least 10 years) I was able to rob a group of manila folders (impossible to get here in the UK - what THEY call manila is not what *I* know as manilla :)) and am interested. I like the loose sheet idea a lot. So tell me where to find more - can't see a file folder tag and I don't think it would be in the altered book lesson list so what am I missing??

Well I couldn't tell there was a rocker missing on the teeny horse...is that my eyesight or the parallel-ity of it?!! Am hoping that things have warmed up sufficiently for some time in the basement now, you'll be climbing the walls soon! How strange about the baby oil - perhaps there as just some in the lid that had to seep...and seep... As usual, top advice from Jo!

I'm still in search of a smaller ring binder to use as a " loose leaf" journal. The ones the right size tend to have padded covers...not so easy to alter.

ReplyDeleteThe baby oil is just to condition the Gelli plate when it starts to get a bit dry and sticky. Cleaning it can be done with just plain water or even baby wipes. The other way, is to brayer a little more pale acryllic paint onto it and then pull another print with cheap copy paper. That usually removes everything in one go, and you can use the result for backing paper. You were late this morning, Elizabeth, but not as late as me. What a shame about your little rocking horse getting damaged, but it still looks beautiful. Have a good week. xx Maggie #97

ReplyDeleteWhat medium you use on your Gelli plate will dictate how you clean it. Water or baby wipes will clean most things. If you use permanent type stuff, then you can use something like nail varnish remover. The baby oil is best rubbed in just before you put it away in its own packet between its two pieces of acetate. That conditions it and allows it to recover from the more aggressive media. Even with water based inks and paints, Barbara Gray found that the Gellis she was using for her workshops were starting to stick, but a little baby oil before they were put away did all that was necessary. xx Maggie #97
