Friday Smiles 48: the Christmas gift

I'm once again joining Annie at A Stitch in Time for Friday Smiles.  Now I'll admit, this may not put a smile on your face,

but it sure does on mine.

Of course, I thought while you were here, you might like to see a few more trees.

Yes, I ordered myself Bleubeard ordered me a new Gelli plate.  I got  tired of asking for one for Christmas and Bleubeard decided I deserved it.  I've had it since November, but promised myself and Bleubeard I wouldn't open it till Christmas.  I can't wait to play with it right after Christmas.

I'm having a terrible time with my internet.  I've called my provider three times in the past two days because I can't get on the internet.  So I hope I can post this when Annie puts up her link later this morning.  And that's why I haven't been able to visit others, either.  This is very frustrating, but I can't help but smile when I know the hours of fun I'll soon have with my new Christmas gift from Bleubeard.

  1. I'm certainly smiling.....but I'm smiling that you are so disciplined and haven't opened your parcel. What self control you've got....or do you have a guard cat stopping you? :-)
    Hugs,
    Annie x

  2. Happy Friday! Happy Mail!! You made me smile, love the tree and your new gift, can't wait to see you play with it.

Sorry for the internet issues, hope it works soon. I feel your frustrations.

Sorry, I have missed last couple days, too busy and trying to get things done here. Caught up though and LOOOOVE your cards, we need to exchange address and send some happy mail to each other.

WOW, great post on your time with Kathy, loved it and her place.

Have a wonderful weekend, stay warm! HUGS!

p.s. I think the Grinch snowman should have won too, not sure if I came back to tell you that.

  3. You ordered yourself a present and haven't even broken the seal on the box yet? man, you are committed. I won't tell you how addicting it is or how much fun you will have with it. All I will say is start thinking about and collecting all sorts of things to make marks with-- the more you have at your disposal when you start the better you will enjoy it.
My mother made a puffy tree like that! I wish I knew who had it cause I want it! I love that thing.
    Happy Friday!

  4. All I can say is Bleubeard is one generous fellow and you have way more self control than I do! Have a fun weekend--we're in for 5-8" tomorrow into Sunday but we'll see!

  6. Oh right after Christmas we may never see you because you may never come up from the basement. (Cheapie craft paints work the best on this I find, like them alot for the gelli surface, you can spritz with water to get an extra ghost print or two as well.) Get the stuff you can find at Hobby lobby for a $1 or 1.99....A LITTLE goes a long way. You can find used rubber brayers around in the thrifts sometimes too. I found a beauty. xox

I have a gelli plate that I have never used, so hopefully you will provide inspiration in the New Year!

  9. Bluebeard must have been keeping a sharp eye on you if you have had it since November and haven't opened it.
Looking forward to seeing your new creations using your new toy.
    Have a great weekend.

  10. Hi Elizabeth! Thank you for your lovely comment about the Scottish Fairy on top of the Christmas tree!

Now, here's a thing, I asked 'Santa' for a Gelli Plate - and if he doesn't come up with the goods that fairy's gonna be off the tree in a trice and 'Santa' will be up there instead :)

    Hugs, Di xx

  11. Wow Elizabeth! Isn't Bleubeard a clever cat? I wonder if I ask the Girls for a gelli plate I would get a visit from Santa with one?
    Lovely trees. Love Christmas trees!

  12. I love all the trees, and you will love your gelli plate. They are very addictive. The trouble is, I now need a project to use up the mountain of papers I have made! Kate x

  15. Sorry about your internet woes. I live way out in the bush and we often have problems as well. It is very frustrating.
I know you will love using your gelli plate. Julie fei fan balzer at balzer designs has short, very inexpensive tutorials that you might like. I think she has one on gelli printing. also look to the gelliarts page on youtube, it has great ideas. Oh and thanks for all those wonderful comments. It was lovely to wake up to them this morning

  17. I got one right before my leg and lower back went crazy with the sciatica. Now I've been busy with Christmas cards. After the holidays I plan to play with my new gelli plate and the new Cinch I haven't taken out of the box yet--LOL! Sometimes you just have to wait until thew time is right. ;)

  18. Oh he is such a wonderful cat, congratulations on getting what you wanted all along, even if it was a few paw tappings on the computer that took it and masterly help LOL

You need to be warned though, the Gelli plate is sooooooooo addictive but you are going to love it.

    Hugs Eliza

  19. You are disciplined! I'd be tearing open that box by now :) Have fun with the Gelli plate. It's one of my favorite art supplies.

Bleubeard is such a good boy!

Hope your internet woes get corrected soon. xo

  20. OMG! I used to make those fabric trees back in the day. I can't tell you how many I sold at craft fairs! I keep threatening to buy a Gelli plate. No one around here carries them, so I'd have to order on-line. I keep talking myself out of it!

  21. Oh Lovely decorating for Christmas. Love all your Tree's

  22. my goodness, you are good! I couldn't wait and would HAVE to open it. I've had internet probs too, but, it's probably my fault...my new computer is harder than I thought to get along with but is faster at doing nothing than my old one...I still have my old one going, but it's on wi-fi and keeps connecting to someone down the road! and then going off line....anyway! Hoping to join in again soon, and have added a wet dog to Annies Smiles!
