Friday Smiles: the ticket
Once again I'm joining Annie at A Stitch in Time who holds a weekly Friday smile. What's not to like about a smile, especially when getting ready for the weekend. Sadly, my contribution to Friday Smiles will be on hiatus for a few weeks, while I finish a project. But don't worry, Annie. I'll be back soon.
So why am I smiling today? I've just printed my ticket to Museum Day. Each year in the US, Smithsonian Museum hosts an event called Museum Day, where they encourage museums around the country to participate in allowing people to visit their museum at no cost. This year, that day is September 28. I know it won't be of interest to those who live in other countries, but any of my loyal readers who live in the States might be interested. Here is the link to Smithsonian's site where you can search for museums in your area, too.

ooooo this is good to know. I will look and see if there is one by me. Thanks so much for sharing this! What a great reason to smile, it's so nice when places do this for the community. We have a Farm park near by and they open for free the first Sunday's of every month.

I did not know about this, and there are quite a few in Ohio! perhaps the Toledo Museum of Art? but there is even one in Marion--Heritage Hall--in my home town! thank you dear!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! I didn't know they did that. Our local libraries have so many tickets that can be "checked out" each week for area museums, zoos and historical sites. It's a really great program. We've taken advantage of the tickets on many occasions. The zoo tickets are usually gone though.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet comment, I'm loving the sunflowers so much this year. We just found another new one, it's really weird and cool but not gorgeous like the others. Will be posting it next week.
Now for your basement hint, maybe painting? fixing a leak? I hope it's something fun at least.

Such a lovely treat for you... I love FREEBIES!! Here in England we have Heritage days when hundreds of museums, galleries, stately homes and historical buildings open to the public FREE. I've got my list ready for next week.

I grew up in Edinburgh where entry to the museum was free and I've spent a lifetime trying to understand why the aren't free everywhere else ... For a child, rainy Saturday mornings at the museum were the best, and educational too. Enjoy your day and good luck with the project. Elizabeth xx

ReplyDeleteI used glue'n'seal for my napkin, underneath and on top so it was sealed too.
Why don't you just jump in with the dictionary challenge, as the letters are in random order, no one would ever know. You could do the one set a fortnight and another old one a week and that would nearly catch you up. I don't think there is a deadline if you are doing this for yourself. Oh go on, I'd love to see your pages.
Oh and we did get a few days of rain this Summer amidst all the lovely sunshine but my husband did water the garden daily in the dry times too. BJ
