WOYWW 164: The quiltlet edition

As promised, I am showing the quiltlet I made for the winner of my blogoversary last week. The package is now on its way to Kathleen, so I'm waiting to hear when she receives it. If you were here last week, you remember I also promised to keep this post short.

This view provides possibly better color. You can see how large it is, since it covers my 12 inch X 16 inch guillotine cutter. I couldn't scan it because I used a real rosebud, picked from my garden and sealed using gel medium. I kept the colors as neutral as possible, using pale pink, beige, pink-beige, and white. Included with the fabric is lace, a tea bag, walnut ink dyed cheesecloth, sheet music, a pink rose sticker, angel wallpaper, and of course, the rose.

Join Julia at Stamping Ground and all us Wednesday snoops as we invade workdesks across the country and around the world. And thanks as always for leaving your number.

  6. Really? If you seal a real flower with gel medium it can preserve it? What else can we use this magic formula for?! I'm still green about not winning your anniversary prize but I'm happy for Kathleen! Patsy from

  26. Gorgeous. Love that sealed rose. I've never used flowers that way, but I do recall there once was a technique that involved smashing real flowers to give an blotch from the petal colouring on paper. Never did that either LOL! but was always intrigued by it :)

  30. Thanks for your reply, Elizabeth. I use Golden mediums too. Do you paint it on? It must be rather difficult to cover a rose completely... You ought to do a tutorial as I am sure people would be interested!
