12 Month Calendar: November and December

Another month completed on my 12 month calendar. That means there's only one month to go, as we begin to wind down this year. I never suspected when I started this project, initiated by our leader Kate at The Kathryn Wheel, how demanding it would be. Now I'm no artist and my pages are not filled with lovely daily art like some of the people I've visited. But it still is a big (and I stress the word BIG) commitment to write a little something every day, even if you don't include a bit of artistic imagery along with the prose.

I managed to get my November squares filled, along with a few bits of good old-fashioned American based thankfulness.

My left side (for those of you who like to see the daily minutia) is decorated with a few barren trees, a sure sign that Autumn winds have helped remove all the dead and dying leaves.

The right side is filled with some of those wind-swept leaves, and images of thanks and Thanksgiving. I realize Thanksgiving is a strickly American holiday, but it is my favorite holiday of all, since there are no religious overtones, no gifts that must be exchanged, and it can be as elaborate or simple as one chooses.

Christmas, on the other hand, is never simple. The house is filled with food, decorations, scents, and gifts from the first of December. So, my December pages will truly be filled with decorated trees (like my house) and hopefully lots of prose describing the events of the month. I hope to see everyone this month and next month when we wrap up the year with our calendars.

  8. I really love this idea-- a great way of journaling everyday (just a short sentence--no need to write a lot)--when you look back at it--you'll appreciate it even more and the added touch of artwork is perfect.

  14. I think you prove the theory that you don't have to be able to draw to be an artist! I love how you artistically incorporated the bare trees and leaves. I've been doing daily journaling all year, also, just not in the "square" format and I love it. Now, it is pretty much a habit and is so fun to go back and read and remember the special and the ordinary days of your life!
