Inspiration Avenue: Autumn Splendor

This week Tammy asked for autumn splendor as our Inspiration Avenue challenge of the week. It is still quite warm here, and it's hard to envision what fall feels like. But hopefully, this mixed media piece will make it seem more like autumn. This piece contains silk flowers, an old postcard I sewed to a mat, bits of scrapbook papers, and a stencil.

  1. You've created a beautiful fall scene with your postcard sewn to the mat. I like the addition of the fall colored leaves too. Very lovely! (We are having 2 or 3 Autumn like days here in Virginia, but not to last long)

  2. Very much in the Autumn frame of mind. I like the idea of sewing the card to the mat. You use sewing to such advantage in your art.

  15. This is a very beautiful piece of art, Elizabeth. And it really represents the autumn splendor. It also reminds me that I haven't done anything for this challenge yet... tomorrow, hopefully.

  17. I like everything about this page, the patterns, colors, the thread tying one season to the next/like memory threads, going for a walk on a crisp autumn day and finding this pond would be a sweet day. Beautiful.

  18. That's very beautiful and captures autumnal atmosphere perfectly. Makes me want to get outside and experience some. Heard a bird singing this morning like it was Spring which was funny!

  19. The colors and image give the feel of autumn (I am with you, it has been hot here too and I don't feel like autumn yet either). However, leaves speak fall to me and I love that you have added them to the piece. The background is beautiful and I love the paper you have used. And then sewing the card and paper gives the perfect effect to the piece. And thank you for your comments on mine. I am learning so much and appreciate the support. Take Care.

  20. The photo, the background, and the addition of the autumn leaves...it's all beautiful! Makes me not too sorry that summer is leaving us, although it won't be quite yet.
