Inspiration Avenue Challenge: Ancient

Can you believe this is Friday the 13th? This week's challenge at Inspiration Avenue is by Kat W, who wants us to create something religious, sacred, spiritual, ancient, or symbolic. Since I have never made religious art, I had a hard time coming up with an idea for this challenge, even after considering the date to be symbolic by those who are superstitious.

However, I have a swap I'm in at the moment where I used what to me looks like an ancient person as the focal image.


And the image on the Ancient's chest has a symbol of "logic." I hope I don't give too much away because this mixed media piece is for a color swap I'm in (and I still have here). I hope this meets Kat's requirements. At least the challenge seemed open enough I didn't have to limit it to religion.

    This is perfect Elizabeth.

    I may have not explained the challenge properly because 'Ancient' includes the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians... and can encompass mythology, very old art etc (could be an old gallery piece or the pattern from a greek urn). Symbolic includes anything of meaning to people including symbols of love (someone did roses). And sacred doesn't have to be anything to do with religion as much as anything people believe in or express as being important at a deep level. I've done a mandala because it is both an ancient & spiritual art form that is across many cultures and religions as well as just pretty. But really the theme could include just about anything ingrained in our culture.

    Sorry if my challenge page didn't make all that clear and easy to understand. It was my first time hosting.

    The great thing is your piece is perfect anyway.

    I like that page, yes i do.

    YOu did a cool thing with religious symbolism. I like working with it, and I'm glad you didn't shy away from it.

    Also, I do love a sky blue/turquoise-y color so that made me happy too.

    Now i see in your previous post that there is a rain situation and i can just see a photo of The CAt, so i must go see that cute guy.

    This looks pretty ancient to me... and I like what you created. I didn't participate this week, we're getting close to the end of the school year, always a busy time, and I spend a lot of my time with the owls - actually, I just came back from another visit, they're doing well.

    I love this! I have to admit I had a hard time coming up with something for the challenge as well, but your ancient man with his "logic" is perfect! So glad you decided to share it even tho' it's part of a current trade you're involved in.

    I think this fits the theme very well. I'm loving the contrast between the ancient statue and the leopard print - inspired!

    I've had Blogger issues this last week too - mainly with posts/comments disappearing! Hopefully they've resolved for all of us now!

    I love your piece. I feel that when we create a piece, we use our individual talents and soul. So the outcome is a unique and original work. I find that sacred.     Blogger had me PO'd. It printed a draft. OH NO and it was just a mess. Not what I wanted to put out there. OH well Moving right along.
    Your art is great. Love all the images. To me it says if you have logic you will stay away from Leopards. lol.

    This is perfect for the challenge! I love the ancient guy mixed with the leopard print. Makes you wonder what went on before he got those leopard skins :)
