A bit of blarney

I can't remember the last time I was sick like this, but this has been the pits. In fact, I've been so sick, I haven't even checked to learn why the post office hasn't delivered my mail. Even worse, I've not felt like visiting my friends' blogs, either.

So today, when my friend Kathy said she was coming to Wichita, even though it would be afternoon before she could get here, I reluctantly agreed to get out of my sick bed and actually insisted that Bleubeard leave my side for the first time since I got home last week.

Of course Kathy wanted to come to Mrs. O'Leary's and she was dressed the part.

I caught her getting her very heavy purse out of the car,

then took a photo of her with her lovely Irish music shirt.

The back is equally beautiful, and don't forget to check out her leprechaun earrings she is wearing.

Once inside, we stopped at the Graphic 45 display. This one was made using two or three pages. Kathy bought two Graphic 45 pages so she could make this layout that she will more than likely frame.

I thought this one was adorable. Kathy held it while I took a picture of it.

Yes, we spent over two hours looking around and I didn't even make it to the clearance room. Joanie's daughter laughed and cut up with us

and didn't even realize I was taking her photo until it was too late.

She and Kathy look like little leprechaun sisters in their green. I, on the other hand wore my NRA shirt and shorts. I looked for green on my shirt, but there was none to be found.

These two were cutting up,

then Kathy started looking at decorated busts.

She found one they could inspect.

I can just see Amy wondering what is inside THIS bust.

Apparently it was something of interest.

While they inspected the bust, I found a wire frame mannequin birdcage I thought Annette might enjoy.

Although this was the first place we visited today, we spent the most time here.

Of course, I took no photos after Mrs. O'Leary's, although we had a nice lunch of sandwiches and fries (what's the deal with me and french fries lately?), then went to Michael's, where neither of us found anything we wanted.

However, while we were still at Mrs. O'Leary's, I took photos of these butterfly pieces in a cigar box. The reason I did, was because Kathy got all those butterfly rubber stamps as an early birthday gift from yours truly

so she can make the lady in the photo above. Good luck, Kathy. I sure wouldn't want that job. Of course, she seems to relish it.

As for me? I'm trying to get better and will have more California photos on my blog in a day or so. Today was the first time I thought about ANYTHING except trying to stop coughing long enough to take a full breath. It looks like a bit of blarney may have actually been good for me.

Oh Elizabeth am so glad that you've been able to get up and about a bit - the coughing is sooo exhausting. And for some reason your last two posts haven't appeared in my reader and I was starting to panic; talked to Mr D about flights to Wichita! I think you should get a Dr involved...mine says if it last more than 3 days with over the counter help, see him. Love the photos of Kathy, and the expression 'cutting up'...haven't heard that before! - and oh my that butterfly woman...just like you - rather her than me!

I'm so glad you're feeling better- there's nothing more miserable than being sick when you're usually so very healthy!
That store looks amazing- and dangerous! I could spend hours in there too!
I'm looking forward to seeing more of California :)
Keep getting better
Big hugs,
Stephanie

There you are! I've been checking in and wondering how you have been doing. Glad you were able to get up and out for a bit. Chicken soup is good for you but nothing beats a few laughs with a good friend.

Here's hoping you are on the mend now.

Blessings, Elizabeth. I, too, am getting over some kind of wicked bug. A little out and about really does help and that is no blarney! hugs

Hope you feel better soon. Travel sometimes does that. We don't realize the stress we are under from airline travel til we get home and our adrenalin drops.

so freakin cute that bluebeard won't leave your side.
I'm glad you got out for some Blarney and such.
I did Not wear green, but you can hardly call me uncelebratory as my son's birthday was yesterday -
i always feel that giving birth to a leprechaun excuses me from all st. patrick's day festivities from here on out...
Xx,
amy

Laughter is good medicine .... And friendship too! I'm trying to imagine your NRA shirt .... Is that really NRA? As in guns? Or maybe it means something else - like Natural and Real Art .....???
