Second on the 2nd: Tag, you're it

Today I'm sharing a partial post from November, 2019.  Although it was part of a larger post, I'm sharing that part which involves the tag I'm about to share.

I originally created this tag for Tag Tuesday where seeds and plants were the theme that Michele chose.  I was also creating for another challenge that involved circles, but that blog is no longer active.

Let's take a closer look at this tag I called "seeds."

Apparently my green dye ink pad was dry, because the circles I made were quite faint.

The black dye ink was more obvious.

There's a bit of symbolism in this tag, too.  For those of you who live in the states or are familiar with some of our cities, all the fruit symbolize a specific city.   The avocado (yes, it's a fruit) symbolizes Los Angeles, California.  The cherry symbolizes Washington D.C. where the cherry blossoms bloom each year.  The apple is for the Big Apple, or New York City, New York.

For this tag, I cut a piece of fun foam to size, then stamped green and black circles on the foam.  I fussy cut the fruit and the word from various magazines.  There was no way I was going to be able to cut the stems on the cherries or the apple and not destroy the images.  I had trouble getting glue to adhere, so ended up affixing everything with glue dots.  Finally, I backed the tag with a decorated paper (kitchen) towel that had been stamped and colored.

Now it's your turn to share your Second on the 2nd.  The rules are quite simple and everyone is welcome to join the fun look back.  All you have to do is bring back a post that you are especially proud of, or perhaps one you shared before anyone knew your blog existed.  It could even be a post that is as relevant today as it was when you originally posted it.  Any post, any genre, any artistic endeavor is acceptable.  Then link below (direct links only, please) and Bleubeard and I, along with other Second on the 2nd friends, will be by to visit.  Please be aware, since so many of you don't like Inlinkz, we will be using Mr. Linky.  That means this link is only open through tomorrow at 4 p.m. my time, when T Tuesday goes live, so linking today is encouraged.

That's a pretty tag with the apple, but I can't remember seeing it before. Okay it's still very early morning here! My brain is still sleeping! Happy 2nd on the 2nd! Valerie

It´s a clever, wonderful idea, yet makes me so sad as I grew two avocado-trees out of the seeds. Both made it, reall trees!... for some time, none is left.
Our wooden floor is the killer, not me!!! (You need to blame someone, huh? ;-) Ingo even got a humidifier, but it didn´t help).

What a lovely tag! And so interesting to learn about the fruits connected with the cities. Of course I'd hear of the Big Apple but didn't know where that expression came from.
Happy 2nd of the 2nd!

Pretty colors on the tag and a nice choice as Lughnasadh, was on Saturday. It's a Celtic festival and is also the first harvest. Happy 2nd on the 2nd.

Beautiful tag Elizabeth and this was a first for me so am happy you shared it for second on the 2nd. I love the crisp colors in this.
To answer your comment-I agree I enjoy natural dyeing the best-as it is always a surprise and not always predictable. back then I was doing allot of quilting too and was dyeing fabrics with the procion dyes for those. I had one batch of size fat 1/8's that I dyed in gradation and they were so beautiful I didn't want to use them haha I did end up using some of them.
depending on the natural dye method there can be allot of chemicals used there too.
this fall I am hoping to boil down those black walnuts I had collected for dye and ink.
Happy second on the 2nd hugs Kathy

I like the tag! It is perfect for this season for fresh fruits and veggies. And i remember last seeing this. Hope you are having great weekend. My hives are crazy this morning and I want to itch myself skinless. Ugh. That even sounds disgusting. Hope the eye is improving. Hugs-Erika

It's inspiring to me to see the wide variety in size of these seeds. I like the composition here, and as always I love your background.

Great tag ~ Yes their is a special glue for foam that you can buy if you like to craft with foam. However, your glue dots worked so that's good :) Happy 2nd!

The tag is great. The colors are bright and the whole image so clear. I like the fruits related to the cities. Tags are fun to use in art aren't they?

Fabulous page Elizabeth! I don't recall you telling us about the fruit symbolising the cities. Do all big cities have a special fruit? Hugs, Chrisx

Nice tag. I did not know about the avocado or the cherry (related to the story of George Washington and the cherry tree no doubt?). Of course even a Canadian on the west coast knows about the Big Apple!
