T Stands For On My Front Porch (again)

Welcome to another porch T Tuesday.

Yes, I mowed.

Mowing is easy, but edging and trimming has become a chore, since I have not done it once this year.  It's hard to even see the bricks that segregate the "flower bed" from the yard.  Even the pavers are starting to break and settle into the soft ground.

I was worried that my smallest Rose of Sharon wouldn't make it, but it looks like it is doing well after I transplanted it.

While admiring how well my various Rose of Sharon transplants were doing, I noticed my rose bush was dropping two more roses.

Today I am not sitting on my chairs.  Instead, I'm admiring how much I like them, even though I've had to weigh them down with cans of "dead" and hardened paint due to the 60 plus mile per hour winds we have today.  If I didn't do this, these chairs would tip over because they are top heavy.  Then they would skirt across the porch and land in front of my front door.  Believe me, it's happened in the past.  The only thing stopping the chairs is the desk on the other side of the porch.  Then I have trouble getting out my front door when that happens.  Lesson learned, thus the paint cans.

Directly behind the chairs is my craft room where my sewing machine sits.  Yes, I blurred my image I captured in the window.

I call this the smoking section.  People who want to smoke (yes, there are still people who smoke in the states) are allowed to sit here and use my ashtray I found at a flea market years ago.  I love this ashtray and whether I smoke or not, I'm not about to get rid of it.

Usually my coffee sits on the table and the paint can is moved from the chair and sits where my coffee is today.  However, I wanted to showcase my table and chairs rather than my iced coffee in my ugly Shocker mug.

Next Tuesday is our anniversary.  We will have a pay it forward type swap.  The rules are easy.  IF you are planning to make and send an ATC:

1.  Create an ATC in advance of the party next week.
2.  When you link, be sure to add an asterisk (*) after your name if you are sending an ATC.
3.  The next person on the list whose name has an asterisk (*) behind it will be the person you send your ATC to.  It's called Pay-It-Forward.  Contact that person either on their blog or through e-mail to get their mailing address.
4.  The person with an asterisk (*) behind it whose name is before yours will contact you for your mailing address.
5.  If you want the other person to be surprised, please don't show your ATC until you know your recipient has received it.  We'll have a reveal party on the 27th/28th.
6.  If you are NOT making an ATC for the swap, add your name without an asterisk.  Please add your NAME ONLY next week and nothing more.  It's going to be too confusing otherwise.

Now it's your turn to share your T entry this week.  The rules are extremely simple.  Your drink related post may be anything from a photo of a glass, cup, or mug, to an actual drink.  You may choose to share a sketch or a digital, hybrid, or traditional page in your scrapbook, art journal, or altered book.  Maybe you'd prefer to share a tag, or wow us with your photography.  You might choose a postcard, decorated card, or magazine image.  You might even draw an image on a used tea bag.  Or perhaps you prefer to review a place you visited, a movie, or book.  It makes no difference as long as it's drink related.  And don't forget that the more unique and outside the box it is, the better we like it.  Please tie it back here, and please link only to your T post, not your entire blog.  When you link, Bleubeard, the T gang, and I will be by to visit.   Bleubeard would also like to remind you that your photos may be taken any time, even months or years ago, if you choose.

Some of you may want to know about my eye.  It seems the patch didn't help as much as the vision specialist hoped.  Instead, he has now taped my eye shut.  I still need to wear the patch to protect the taped portion, but I'm not allowed to remove the taped area until next Monday.  We'll know more then if the added protection has given my eye the time to heal it needs.

Lovely post, Elizabeth! I am so sorry to hear about your eye.

Please note, everyone, that .elizabeth has no internet and doesn’t know when she will get it. She is so sorry she won’t be able to visit you for a while! Her friend updated about her eye as if it was her, but in fact she isn’t able to post, as she has no internet!

Happy T Day. It's been windy here, too, one of my plant pots blew over the balcony and landed in the garden downstairs. I have an ashtray on the balcony, too, for my smokers. Look after your eye! My next eye OP is on Wednesday. I'll link tomorrow. Valerie

Yes take care of your eye. You have a really inviting spot for friends to come over and chat for a bit. I usually have to find an ash tray these days-and they have to smoke outdoors for sure. Happy T Kathy

Sorry to hear about your eye and your troublesome internet, Elizabeth. I'm also sorry that I forgot to add the *. I tried to remove the incomplete link but the removal tool doesn't seem to work. I guess it's just one of those days.

I love that type of chair, but can't recal what they're called. Your rose of sharon plants seem to be growing fast. So our our passion flower vines we're using to cover the neighbor's chain link fence.

I do hope your eye heals well and that you're not in pain anymore.

Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

Good luck with the eye healing AND with the internet! I'm surprised when people still smoke, but I think that's because a lot of people I know don't admit to it. Anyway, who sees people?

be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

Love the wicker even though it does need grounding during heavy winds. Reminds me of the Caribbean:)

That ash tray is very retro cool! And the tea light holders look like soap stone to me which I like very much;)
Continued well wishes for your eye healing, and good luck with your internet issues. Happy T day!

Sorry to hear about your eye. Hopefully having it taped shut will help. Is it uncomfortable? And nice visit to your porch today. Those chairs look great on your porch. And nice decorations. Not a smoker myself but the ashtray has a nice retro style. Thanks for the view and have a great T day. hugs-Erika

We have windy and very windy days up here all the time so we pretty much have to always think about things blowing away like you do.

I love that ashtray. Big coffee table ash tray were a thing in the 70s. I had a huge maple leaf one that I loved.

I hope you get your internet back and your eye is okay.

No internet, AGAIN?? oh how frustrating. Hope the eye recovers soon Thanks for sharing your porch chairs - they look very comfy.

Summer is taking a windy break here, too. What a crazy year "so far". The neighbour´s roses that looked onto our balcony are all gone, such a sad view and the plants I tried to grow... not really. But that might also be because I hate "gardening" ;-)
I looked up what exactly ATC is and I don´t feel qualified to join. I´ve never done that before and my brain is just empty, it doesn´t even give an idea apart from a Birthday cake, which is like really lame!
So please don´t be mad, I cannot join...
Aw, so bad with your eye! I so feel with you and cross fingers and toes there won´t be any long term damage like it happened to me. (nothing too serious, just very, very dry, I need nightcream and when outside the slightest wind makes them tear and people often look at me in pity cause they think I´m crying, gahhh, the German word is "Heulsuse"! ;-)...)

I hope your eye being taped isn't uncomfortable and hope that it will heal and your consultants will have good news for you.
Sorry to read about the internet, I thought mine was bad but I would be going even more crazy if I had your internet issues.
Lovely photos of your porch, those chairs look really comfortable. We are a smoker free home but I do like the style of the ashtray you have on the table.
Happy T day wishes, stay safe and look after yourself and the poorly eye.

I'm sorry your eye isn't healing the way the DR expected it to, and now has to be taped shut. I like your wicker furniture. And that ash tray is unique looking. Happy T-Day!

I'm concerned about your eye and hope you will have some good news to share with us when your internet is back on. Meanwhile it is nice to have a front porch big enough to sit on isn't it? Yours looks welcoming.

Around here you see iron porch furniture because of the wind lol Your chairs are so pretty and make such an attractive seating area. I miss having a porch :) It won't be long you'll have a nice screen for the neighbor's border fence. Your porch offers a great neighborhood view even with the fence up.

I won't be participating in the ATC anniversary swap after all. But I'll look forward to see everyone else's art :)

I hope your eye is healing well!

Sorry about the eye issue Elizabeth; maybe the patch wasn't "tight" fitting enough ?? I do hope the tape works. I had chairs like that some
time back and I understand what you mean about the slightest breeze taking them anyplace and everywhere. One of them, the caning went bad and snapped in two and couldn't be fixed...the chairs were comfortable !!

N wavez two ewe bleu N squiggles !! ☺☺♥3

That's concerning about your eye -- I hope things can resolve soon. That is a lovely porch and your chairs are beautiful. It must be windy if you need paint cans to hold them down!

Hi Elizabeth,

In your comment on mmy blog, you wrote "Be sure to use ONLY your name in the "caption" and not your blog post, please."

Did I do something wrong (beside the * mistake)? I always use just my first name.

Hi Elizabeth,
I didn't get a chance to join T day this week as we have company but I still want to join the ATC swap. I didn't add my name as I didn't have a post to link. Can you let me know who I swap with since my name would be at the end?
My email is katesscrapyard@gmail.com.
Thank you,
Kate

Happy to see there's a spare chair available just in case I visit, Elizabeth(lol) I was wondering about your eye, and can just imagine the discomfort you're feeling. A cat scratched my cornea many years ago when I was a kid, and it was no fun, but mine healed fairly quickly. When you can, rest your eyes as much as you can, even if it means no computer. We'll miss you, but we all want you healthy and feeling good. Sending lots and lots of hugs your way. RO
